The Mayor and City Council met on Tuesday, May 16, and Mayor Andeweg began by proclaiming May 21-27 as National Public Works Week.
The City Council approved a $320,000 bid for three community entrance signs to be built near NW Urbandale Drive south of I-35/80, at the corner of 100th Street and 54th Avenue, and west of 86th Street at the I-35/80 eastbound off-ramp. All three signs are expected to be built and completed by the end of the year.
The City Council approved site plans for Timberline Wellness near the northeast corner of the Douglas Parkway roundabout at 142nd Street. The building is proposed to be about 12,000 square feet and will likely be space for a medical and dental clinic, although other uses are possible. The City Council also approved a site plan for 74 new townhomes near the southwest corner of 142nd Street and Waterford Road.
The City Council also approved purchasing 2,450 tons of roadway salt for $168,000. That's equivalent to about 68 dump trucks fully-loaded with salt.
