Medical News

It is estimated that 25% of Americans have non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) which is a condition where excess fat is stored in the liver. NAFLD is thought to be caused by excess calorie intake, elevated blood sugar (pre-diabetes and diabetes), insulin resistance (indicated by high fasting insulin blood level), and obesity. NAFLD is the leading cause of liver failure in the United States and is a preventable disease if caught early with a simple test called a fibroscan.

This potentially fatal disease is preventable through lifestyle changes. This study in the American Journal of Gastroenterology shows that exercise such as brisk walking 30 minutes, 5 days per week reduces fatty liver independent of whether any weight loss occurred. Just another reason to get movement into your routine!

Supplement of the Month

Whether you want to support muscle strength and function or prevent muscle loss associated with inactivity or aging,

Xymogen XymoBolX provides the right amino acids in the right ratios to help you meet your goals and stay healthy. Also called “Aminos” or “BCAAs”, these amino acid supplements provide the building blocks for muscle that are easier absorbed than food-based protein or supplemental protein powders.

Taking aminos can also signal the body to build muscle.

Although amino acid supplements do not replace protein in your diet, they can provide easily absorbed building blocks and a signaling mechanism for muscle growth and prevention of muscle loss that occurs with aging.
