Hello Marianna,

Happy Women’s History Month to all the incredible daughters, mothers, sisters, friends, sisters, mentors, – we see you, celebrate you, and support you! My CURO team reminds me daily of our strength and ability as women, we’re strong as individuals but truly powerful when we come together.

I’d like to start this month by introducing Errica Nelson, our new Executive Assistant who joined CURO in February 2024. Next time you call or visit our office, you will be greeted with her friendly voice and contagious smile. Errica will be your go-to CURO team member for scheduling, navigating Investor360 and much more.

In less exciting, albeit equally important, news, let's talk taxes. Friendly reminder that we are about a month away from the national tax filing deadline. By now, you should have received all the initial tax documents but keep in mind that the corrected ones might still be coming. In addition, Form 5498 which an annual record of your IRA activities (e.g. contributions, RMDs, etc.) will be mailed in May. You should keep the form in case of an audit or to report your contributions, but there's NO action required on your part.

We are also busy planning our client and community events and will be sending out a separate email with the dates and details. I just wanted to give everyone a heads-up that our annual Shredding Event is scheduled for May 5th.  Use this opportunity to spring clean your old tax returns, bank and credit card statements, etc. Read this article on our website to decide: To Keep or Not to Keep – A Guide to Common Records-Retention Questions.

Sending you all the best in these coming weeks. Enjoy the warmer weather headed your way, and celebrate safely as St. Patrick's Day, Passover and Easter are fast approaching.

Until next time,

Marianna

Insights From Our CIO: Market Thoughts

March 2024

Brad McMillan, Commonwealth’s CIO, recaps February’s market and economic news. Stocks performed well in February, with most markets up in the low- to mid-single digits. The Nasdaq and emerging markets did especially well, but fixed income declined as interest rates rose. Job, income, and spending growth remained positive, but these results kept inflation up. As we enter March, will markets continue adjusting to the expectation of slower rate cuts? Stay tuned to find out, and follow Brad at blog.commonwealth.com/independent-market-observer.
