Eastcentral Area Health Education Center - About Us

The Eastcentral Pennsylvania Area Health Education Center is a nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing access to primary healthcare and contributing toward the quality of health for people in our region, especially in rural and medically underserved areas. Administrative offices located in Lehighton, PA.

The Carbon County Collaborative had their 12th annual breakfast on Friday April, 21st. The food was delicious, and the program on businesses talking about important issues to Carbon County's present job availability and job seeking strategies was very informative. AHEC had a great time assisting with registration at this event!

We are excited to announce a new member to the East Central AHEC Team this month! Melissa Saunders is a public health professional. She graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor of Science in Public Health. Her degree is emphasized in Health promotion. She has used her degree to help communities in Utah, and now Pennsylvania. Melissa was raised by immigrant parents and speaks Spanish. She has worked with immigrants and has provided interpretive services to hundreds of individuals in a clinical setting. She is passionate about making sure people find, understand, and receive proper information to make thoughtful decisions about their health. Her areas of interest are immigrant/refugee health and health literacy.
