Amberley Village Police Department

to Host Crime Update Events

In response to the recent increase in break-ins, Amberley Village Police Department will host a series of community events beginning next week to empower residents and boost crime prevention.

These events will feature updates on recent crimes in the Village, booths to highlight services available to residents, and the rollout of a new Senior Safety Program (see below).

Multiple sessions will be offered to accommodate busy schedules, and to ensure all interested residents can learn how to be proactive in Village crime prevention. The event series will also provide opportunities to deepen the strong relationship between residents and Amberley Village officers.

Amberley Village Alert System

to Launch at May Events

Introducing our new Amberley Village Alert System, powered by CodeRED!

Our new Alert System enables us to send location-based, targeted alerts to keep you informed of emergencies, road closures, utility shut-offs, road projects and events specific to your address.

You have the power to choose how you prefer to hear from us, including voice, text or email, and you can unsubscribe at any time.

Look for another, separate e-mail with additional information about both the events and the new Alert System. We're excited to share what we've been working on!

2024 Accelerated Streets Program

Launches Next Week in Rollman Estates!

Amberley Village Council awarded the 2024 Streets Program contract to Barrett Paving, with subcontract work to be completed by Tri-State Concrete, First Star and Pavement Technologies. Work is scheduled to begin next week for this year's Streets Program, which includes the following roads in Rollman Estates:

  • Rollman Estates Drive
  • Glenfarm Court
  • Beech Hollow Drive
  • Clearwood Court
  • Ambercreek Drive
  • Rolling Ridge Court
  • Ridgeway Close

The start date for curbs and catch basins will be May 15, with a target end date in early to mid-June. Paving work is projected to begin in late June, with a completion target of July 31. The contractors have agreed to no work on holidays or Jewish holidays, however, work could continue through 8 pm as needed.

All streets will be open with traffic control during work hours, and will be completely open after hours with plates covering work areas as needed. Residents should note that equipment will be stored on the street. Contractors will ensure that restoration will be completed at the end of the project. Work will begin at Galbraith Road and work back into the subdivision.

Questions regarding the project should be directed to Village Zoning Administrator Chris Fritsch at cfritsch@amberleyvillage.org or 513-531-8675.

DEA Drug Takeback Day

Successful

Amberley Village Police Department collected 31.4 pounds of unused prescription drugs on Saturday, April 27. It can be difficult to imagine just how heavy 31 pounds might be, so we've offered some household item comparisons that weigh in at 30 pounds to five you an idea:

  • Four gallons of water (1 gallon is just over 8 pounds)
  • A 50-inch flat screen TV
  • A heavy-duty stroller
  • A bicycle
  • Two upright vacuums

Thanks to all who participated in this year's event. Now just imagine how many potential drug hazards have been removed from our community!

One Stop Drop Enjoys Record Year!

Above: From left, Mayor Bob Rosen, former Mayor Tom Muething and former Councilmember Peg Conway take a break to pose for a quick pic!

Amberley Village Environmental Stewardship Committee recently hosted its annual One Stop Drop at Amberley Green, and reported a significant increase in collections this year.

Nearly 100 more cars were in attendance, reaching the 500 mark, compared to 404 last year. Goodwill collected 6,500 pounds of household and clothing items, weighing in at

1,000 pounds more than in 2023!

Paper shredding stayed around the same, and is estimated at approximately 13,300 pounds of paper, and Cohen is still working on catching up after a recent backlog of similar events.

The event enjoyed beautiful weather and a great group of volunteers! Organizers hope to implement your suggestions via a survey which was passed out at the event, and which is linked below. Let us know your thoughts!

Thanks for a successful year, and be sure to provide your feedback to ensure future events meet the needs of our residents!

Cost-Saving Culture:

New Dog Waste Bag Initiative

at Amberley Green

Dogwalkers at Amberley Green will notice signage regarding our new Dog Waste Bag initiative.

The Village is now utilizing recycled plastic grocery bags for dog waste, and is asking residents and visitors to Amberley Green to bring their plastic grocery bags to the Kiosk in the AG parking lot for use as dog waste bags. This initiative provides an opportunity for plastic bag reuse and saves taxpayer dollars.

Whether you have dogs, just enjoy walking Amberley Green, or are looking for a close and easy location to recycle used plastic grocery bags, we encourage residents and visitors to Amberley Green to bring their used plastic grocery bags for reuse.

A green barrel has also been placed inside the Municipal Building lobby, and is accessible 24/7 for bag drop-off.

Special thanks to our talented Maintenance Crew for designing and building the new bag dispensers and collection barrel!

2024 Arbor Day Celebration in Amberley Village!

Mayor Bob Rosen, Village Manager Scot Lahrmer and members of the Amberley Village Environmental Stewardship Committee (ESC) gathered on April 25 to celebrate Arbor Day/Earth Day with a special proclamation, tree planting and tour of the Municipal Building Grounds locations of trees planted in past years. The Annual Arbor Day Celebration is one of the qualifying factors for the Amberley Village Tree City USA designation, which the Village has earned for the past 20 consecutive years.

This year's tree planting was a White Oak, which was placed along Section Road near the Walking Track.

Forest Bathing Benefits Residents

Above, resident Forest Bathers enjoy a moment of reflection among the trees at Spring Grove.

Amberley Village Environmental Stewardship Committee and the WeTHRIVE! Health & Wellness Committee once again secured resident Joyce DeVoge to lead a Forest Bathing outing at Spring Grove Cemetery. Benefits of the program include calming, heightened awareness and greater connection to natural surroundings.

Approximately 12 attended this season's session, and while a bit chilly, everyone seemed to enjoy the quiet and calm. Thanks to Joyce, both the ESC and WeTHRIVE! Committees, and all who participated to make the event a success!
