The Magic of Manilow May 24, 2013
The Magic of Manilow features Terry and a line-up of stellar musicians and vocalists who pay homage to the music of one of the biggest selling artists of our time, Barry Manilow!
Barry is best known for his catalog of hits that include the chart topping "Mandy," "Ready To Take A Chance Again," "Could It Be Magic", "Copacabana (At the Copa)," "I Write The Songs,"
"Can't Smile Without You" and many others.
In the late 1970's five of Barry's albums were on the best-selling charts, a feat equaled only by Sinatra, Michael Jackson, Bruce Springsteen and Johnny Mathis. Since February 2005, Manilow had been the headliner at the Las Vegas Hilton and performed hundreds of shows before ending his 5 year association there. From March, 2010 until early 2012, Barry headlined at the Paris Hotel and
to date, has sold in excess of 80 million records worldwide.
There's no need to travel to Vegas to be caught up in
the Magic of Manilow. It's coming to ABT on May 24!

Hello Everyone!
Welcome to the May edition of ABT Exposed! A lot of exciting things have been happening, so let's get started!
Last week 24 ABT patrons spent five days in New York City during the inaugural "ABT Takes Manhattan" trip. For some, this was their first trip to NYC and we're so happy to have been the facilitator of such an experience. Read below for more details on our adventure.
I'm thrilled to announce our partnership with Charity Benefits Unlimited's Auctions in Action program raised $3,483! A big thanks to all of you who bid on the array of sports and entertainment memorabilia CBU brought to the ABT lobby during Buddy. Of course, thanks to CBU for bringing a fun, easy and stress-free fundraising event to ABT.
I hope to see you at 9 to 5 before it's gone! The show is a nonstop spectacle, and is sure to entertain! We'd love to see you and your Mom in the audience on Mother's Day!
See you at the theatre!

Summer Youth Program Fund (SYPF) Provides Grant for 2013 Summer Experience for Children
Thanks to the Nina Mason Pulliam Charitable Trust and the Summer Youth Program Fund of Maricopa County, ABT Performing Arts Association, Inc., has received a $5,000 grant to benefit its Academy for Young Performers' 2013 Summer Experience at the Arizona Broadway Theatre. This marks the fourth year that children in the ABT community have benefitted as a result of generous support from the Pulliam Charitable Trust and the SYPF. The award will be used to provide scholarships for children to participate in the camp and to defray expenses associated with the program. ABT is also grateful to the Arizona Community Foundation, which administers the grant application process on behalf of the Summer Youth Program Fund of Maricopa County.
Four separate sessions of ABT's Summer Academy program give children the opportunity to learn about acting, music, movement, and technical theatre. The classes are great for beginners but are also very effective for those with theatre experience. All sessions include lunch and snacks daily, plus workshop and rehearsal materials. To register for the Academy's Summer Camp or to apply for a scholarship, visit the ABT website.
The SYPF received nearly $1 million in requests from Valley organizations that provide programs for youth during the summer months. Of this application pool, 53 organizations will share a 2013 allocation of $617,000, an increase from 2012.

The Highlights
On April 24, a group of ABT patrons boarded a plane for NYC to experience the best city in the world with ABT staff members leading the way. Highlights of the five day, four night trip included:
Tour Group Photo - Central Park - Bethesda Fountain
- Meet and Greet Welcome Reception at The View, a revolving restaurant and lounge on the 48th floor of the New York Marriott Marquis. New York alumni of the ABT Mainstage attended and mingled with our patrons.
- A sentimental journey through neighborhoods significant to the history of Arizona Broadway Theatre on "The Ride" bus with seats that faced sideways to showcase the beauty of the city. Stops included Riverside Church, the Piper's Kilt, Mondel Chocolates and Central Park
- Three Broadway shows: Once, Spiderman Take Back the Dark, and Newsies. Patrons enjoyed talkbacks and after-show drinks with some of the actors from Once and Newsies (Tommy Bracco and Julian DeGuzman)!
Once and Spider-Man Turn off the Dark
Newsies
Tour group photo with Newsies' cast members (and ABT Alums) Julian DeGuzman and Tommy Bracco
- Entertaining and informative walking tour of Times Square with Tim Dolan, ABT alum and owner-operator of Broadway Up Close Walking Tours
- Producers' Farewell Dinner at Sardi's. Portraits were drawn of each ABT patron by one of Sardi's famous caricaturists - an awesome souvenir of the trip!
Sure to become an Arizona Broadway Theatre tradition, you won't want to miss the next ABT Takes Manhattan Excursion to Broadway. There is no better way to experience New York!
