In this edition, we'll be exploring a range of topics, including upcoming events, programs, and more!

Adapted Sledding and Skating

for all Abilities

Rent an Adapted Sled


We are skating on March 8th at Bowness Lagoon between

1:00 PM - 3:00 PM and will bring out our sleds and skaters to help pull your child around on the ice. Please note all days are weather (and snow) dependent. We will also have Weekly Rentals available for those who want to borrow a sled for a week or weekend.

2024 Learn To Ride Program

Pedal into success on Sundays!


In partnership with Ultimate Para Sports Association and Calgary Adapted Hub powered by Jump Start, we are once again offering a great opportunity to learn to ride. 


Sign up and join us for a great season of cycling on the indoor track at Mount Royal University!

  • Program is held at the MRU track
  • Cost is $50 for 5 sessions
  • Block A: Sundays at 1:30 PM - 2:30 PM
  • Block B: Sundays at 2:45 PM - 3:45 PM
  • 5 session dates are March 10 & 17, April 7 & 21 and May 5, 2024
  • Participants bring their own adapted bike to the program
  • Spots are limited, registration is based upon a first-come-first-serve basis

2024 Summer Camp Registration is OPEN

CP Kids & Families Light Up A Child’s Life Camp is a summer day camp for kids living with a physical disability, including cerebral palsy. Our primary focus is to ensure an accessible, fun, enriching summer camp experience for all participants. Our camp activities are adapted to all ability levels. Campers participate in stretching, music, and community outings, and are encouraged to grow and develop their skills through activities such as sailing, dancing, arts & crafts.

Join the Rhythm: Drop-Ins now Open!

Music & Movement


Our 10-week Music & Movement program is open to children 0 - 5 years old living with a neuromotor disability, accompanied by a parent or support person. Siblings are welcome.


Join us for a 30-minute stretch session with a PT from Calgary Youth Physiotherapy, and a 45-minute music therapy session with Lively Up Yourself Music Therapy, and a short nutrition/coffee break in between to socialize, connect with other families and meet with our staff (who are all parents with lived experience!)

When you sign up and purchase a punch card pass, you'll gain access to all virtual programs and only be charged for the ones you attend. We'll keep track of your attendance and remind you when your punch card is running low. Attend each night at your convenience; there's no nightly commitment required. To participate in virtual programs, you'll need a current 2024 CP Kids & Families membership and a Virtual Punch Card Pass.

Peer-to-Peer Connections:

Volunteers Needed

This new program, formerly operated by the Family to Family Connections program through the Alberta Children’s Hospital will offer peer support to families experiencing a new diagnosis, an upcoming procedure or treatment, or other aspect of their child’s health relating to their neuromotor disability. We are recruiting parents and caregivers who are available to listen, share their experiences, and refer families to information and resources. Training will be provided by our Family Support Team.

Family Support Drop-In Program


Our drop-in program offers an opportunity for parents and caregivers of children living with disabilities to have open discussions on a range of topics such as

  • Understanding your FSCD/PDD agreement
  • Recreational opportunities
  • Needing support and/or resources
  • Dealing with significant changes in life
  • And many other related subjects


Our Caregiver Corner program will take place every Monday between 1 - 3 PM at the

CP Kids & Families office. No appointments necessary.

Do you want to meet with our counsellors?


Our Clinical Social Workers are here to provide counselling to families raising children living with disabilities and equip them with the skills to thrive as they journey through parenthood. Both our Social Workers have lived experiences raising children with disabilities of their own.


  • Are you having difficulty coping? We aim to help instil hope for a positive future
  • Are you tired and concerned about burnout? We can help decrease life stresses by teaching healthy coping skills
  • Are you grieving your child’s diagnosis? We offer help to adjust to the new diagnosis/illness
  • Counselling through the grief and loss process

Equipment Highlight of the Month

Walkers


Our Equipment Lending Program is free to all CP Kids & Families members, giving families access to equipment they may not be able to afford, or access to equipment while they are waiting on items through AADL. This program ensures that all families have access to much-needed equipment for their children to improve the quality of life for individuals living with a disability.
