Labor Day Weekend Things to Do

Head to Southern Indiana for festivals, fiestas and more this Labor Day! Kick off your long weekend at Augtoberfest in downtown Jeffersonville, check out the Charlestown Fiesta, or attend the 8th annual Georgetown Labor Day Community Celebration.


The Falls of the Ohio State Park is offering free programs and activities throughout Labor Day weekend. Other events include the Coca-Cola Cruise-In at The Depot at NoCo and live music at Huber’s Orchard and Winery.

Get Your Tickets for Rock The Rocks

Catch Grammy Award-winning fiddlers atop 390-million-year-old fossil beds at the Falls of the Ohio State Park on September 28! Rock The Rocks: Presented by Evan Williams Bourbon Experience features Michael Cleveland & Flamekeeper, The Jason Carter Band, and Dean Heckel. 


Michael Cleveland, a nationally celebrated bluegrass fiddler from Henryville, Indiana merges tradition and innovation in his music. Cleveland started playing the fiddle at age four and had performed with “The Father of Bluegrass Music” Bill Monroe by age nine. He formed the award-winning band Flamekeeper in 2006 and has since earned several awards, including a Grammy for his album Tall Fiddler.


For thirty years, Jason Carter has been the fiddle player for the Del McCoury Band - the most awarded group in bluegrass history. Carter has won three Grammy awards, including 2018’s “Best Bluegrass Album” with The Travelin’ McCourys, of which he is a founding member. Louisville native Dean Heckel has been performing covers and originals since the mid-2010s. Influenced by all genres and inspired by the blues, Heckel’s sound is adored by many in the local live music scene.

The show follows the group as they went from four blue-collar kids to becoming one of the greatest successes in pop music history. The annual New Albany Main Street Taco Walk is on for September 7 in downtown New Albany! Grab your friends and sample tacos from more than a dozen local restaurants from 1 – 5 p.m. Ticket prices range from $25 - $35.

Swap the hustle and bustle for tranquility at the Falls of the Ohio Foundation's Summer Yoga Series on September 14. Led by instructor Dre Smith, it welcomes all experience levels, fostering mind-body connection through ancient practices for inner harmony and well-being. The public is invited to the Annual Muster at the Vintage Fire Museum in Jeffersonville on September 28 – a traditional celebration in which firefighters come together to display their equipment and to show their special skills. Arrive early for a parade and to explore the museum’s nationally-renowned collection.

Grab your furry friends and head to the Jeffersonville Aquatic Center for the annual Pooch Plunge on September 9 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.! Admission rates are $10 for the first dog and $5 for additional dogs. Click the button for more information.

The Monarch Festival returns to Southern Indiana on September 7! This year’s festival is held in conjunction with Art on the Parish Green at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in New Albany. The family-friendly event features 100 local arts and crafts booths, live music, food and more. It is free to attend, but there is a $5 suggested donation to take part in the butterfly education experience. Make sure to stay for the butterfly release at 6 p.m.

The girls are back in town! Chapel Hart is bringing their southern style of classic country to Jeffersonville's the Depot at NoCo on September 13. Doors open at 7 p.m., with Dusty Bo performing at 8 p.m. and Chapel Hart at 9:30 p.m.. Tickets are $15 in advance, $20 at the door, and $50 for balcony access.

Charlestown Community Days, an eclectic music, food, and vendor festival, will take place at Charlestown's City Square on September 20 & 21. The festival features kids’ activities, a baking competition and regional music talent, including Black Water Revival on Friday night. Saturday features rock cover band PARTS UNKNOWN and a new illuminated drone show at 9 p.m. Admission is free.
