Companies entering the international market need dependable partners to help them evaluate the market for their idea, connect with overseas contacts, and manage costs. World Trade Center® Delaware (WTC Delaware) is the state’s premier international business resource. We help companies to expand their manufacturing, consulting, services, or e-commerce business leading to increased revenue, profitability, and numbers of employees. Last year, we helped 201 companies and this year are on track to exceed that number.
WTC Delaware is uniquely qualified to connect companies and organizations across the globe with companies and opportunities in Delaware and beyond.
As a member of the World Trade Centers® Association, we are part of a strong global network of partnerships with the sole goal of helping your company to grow through trade. If you are seeking a distributor, potential customers, suppliers, employees, legal or financial advisors, our WTCA partners can provide proprietary resources that allow you to make an informed decision.
WTC Delaware’s international trade assistance program and proprietary resources include services such as strategic research and analysis of products and target markets, analysis of foreign market opportunities and conditions, an overview of business and cultural practices for a target market, business matchmaking, taking and representing companies at foreign trade shows, bringing foreign customers to Delaware, and more.
We work closely with Federal and State Government agencies and multilateral institutions responsible for international trade. We enjoy a strong relationship with its Congressional and State legislators and have formal agreements to represent the US Trade and Development Agency (USTDA), the US Commercial Service, the US International Development Finance Corporation (DFC), and the World Bank Group, among others. In fact, the US Export-Import Bank of the US (EXIM) designated World Trade Center® Delaware as the Regional Export Promotion Partner (REPP) Member of the Year 2023 for our assistance to companies, especially small businesses. Be on the lookout for future programs with EXIM this fall.
We are a member of the Corporate Council on Africa and have been a supporter of the US-Africa Business Summit for many years, including organizing the World Trade Center® Delaware Kickoff to the Summit each year in Delaware, bringing together Ambassadors and commercial diplomats from African countries, US government agencies, and the private sector to speak about two-way opportunities and resources for trade and investment between the continent and Delaware. This is followed by individual meeting between the speakers and the private company attendees. The Kickoff even was presented virtually during the Covid pandemic.
World Trade Center® Delaware also works in tandem with the Delaware Prosperity Partnership (DPP), the state’s economic development organization to attract foreign companies to locate in Delaware. This week, I am in Washington, D.C., for Select USA where WTC Delaware joined the DPP at the Delaware exhibit booth. We also partner with Port Wilmington and with Delaware’s Foreign Trade Zone 99 to showcase the benefits of our location and logistics infrastructure to potential importers and exporters. We bring foreign delegations to visit the Port and collaborate with FTZ 99 on training and outreach to ensure that companies know how best to utilize the FTZ to save time and money when moving goods into and out of the US. Our goal is to provide a seamless experience for any foreign company wishing to engage with Delaware.
World Trade Center Delaware is proud of its partnerships with Diaspora and minority communities in Delaware such as the Delaware Black Chamber of Commerce, the Delaware African and Caribbean Affairs Commission, and the Center for Global Africa. These communities are an important link for trade.
“The partnership between the World Trade Center® Delaware and the Delaware African and Caribbean Affairs Commission (DACAC) exemplifies our commitment to fostering global economic collaboration. The upcoming Tourism Fair and Economic Summit 2024, co-hosted by both entities, underscores our shared vision of driving economic prosperity through sustainable tourism and international trade, creating a platform for dynamic partnerships and innovative development strategies," said Dr. Kelechi Lawrence, Chair, Delaware African and Caribbean Affairs Commission.
Our relationships provide unlimited opportunities for Delaware companies to learn, network, and identify potential partners. Our next networking mixer with the Delaware Black Chamber of Commerce will be on July 16 at the University & Whist Club. WTC Delaware Premier Member WSFS will present a seminar on foreign exchange followed by a cocktail reception on August 8. Some of the seminar topics to be covered include reducing the cost of remittances to foreign countries as well as tools for minimizing foreign exchange costs in international trade.
