Crime Update Events

Amberley Village has completed its series of Crime Update events, and thanks each and every person who attended! These events were the touchpoint for residents regarding crime in the Village, and introduced multiple ways we can partner to help reduce crime. If you weren't able to attend, please take a moment to review the video below, and sign up for our brand-new alert system. This new system, which replaces the one in place for many years, features tailored options, geo-targeted messaging, and the opportunity for residents to take control of how they receive their alerts. Residents are reminded that opt-in is required for the new system. There are multiple ways to sign up, and Village staff is happy to assist (see Amberley Village Alert System article below).

Amberley Village Alert System

Introducing our new Amberley Village Alert System, powered by CodeRED!

Our new Alert System enables us to send location-based, targeted alerts to keep you informed of road projects, emergencies, road closures, utility shut-offs, and events specific to your address.

You have the power to choose how you prefer to hear from us, including voice, text or email, and you can unsubscribe at any time.

Please note that this is NOT the previous alert system, which is now defunct. In order to receive regular updates, we must have a new set of permissions to contact you. Residents can use the QR code above or text Amberley to 24639 to register on their mobile phone, register online at https://accountportal.onsolve.net/Amberley, or stop by or call Amberley Village Administration at 513-531-8675. Assistance is also available via Dispatch 24/7.

Congratulations Lieutenant Schmidtgoessling!

Sergeant Tim Schmidtgoessling has been promoted to Lieutenant within our Police Department effective June 1.

After a thorough evaluation, Sergeant Schmidtgoessling’s experience, leadership qualities, and commitment to our community made him the best candidate for the position of Lieutenant.

An oath of office was administered at Monday's council meeting (photo below) by Mayor Bob Rosen (left), and his new service badge was pinned on by his wife, Amberly (far right).

Congratulations, Lieutenant Schmidtgoessling!

Administration Staff Update

Finance Administrator Debbie Eldridge

Tax Administrator & Assistant Finance Administrator Ken Smallwood

Staff welcomed our new Finance Administrator Debbie Eldridge to her position on May 16 after she surfaced as the top candidate in our search. Debbie has been in local government since 2015, serving the cities of North College Hill and Springdale. Debbie’s experience in the City of Springdale included 5 years in the Finance Department, working for the Tax Commissioner/Finance Officer, and working another 1½ years as a Police Clerk before leaving for North College Hill.

In addition, Tax Administrator Ken Smallwood will assume more responsibilities to provide the Village more depth in its finance staff. Added to Ken's Tax Administrator title is Assistant Finance Administrator to reflect his new duties.

Welcome Debbie, and congratulations Ken!

Amberley Green Prairie Garden Update

Maintenance Crews will soon be mowing the early growth at the Amberley Green Prairie Garden as prescribed by Cincinnati Nature Center (CNC). In the CNC's land management plan for the Amberley Green Prairie, it states, "the recommended maintenance will seem counterintuitive as there may be some flowering natives present, but the most important thing for the prairie at this stage is to prevent further spread of weedy and invasive species."

The project, which was funded by grants from Hamilton County Public Health WeTHRIVE! and Duke Energy, aims to restore native habitat, reduce invasive species, and establish an environmentally friendly space where mowing is limited, and visitors can relax in nature. For more information, access the full land management plan and an invasive species removal guide provided by Cincinnati Nature Center below.

2024 Accelerated Streets Program Update

Work is underway on this year's Streets Program, which includes the following roads in Rollman Estates:

  • Rollman Estates Drive
  • Glenfarm Court
  • Beech Hollow Drive
  • Clearwood Court
  • Ambercreek Drive
  • Rolling Ridge Court
  • Ridgeway Close

Curbs and catch basins are slated to be completed mid-June. Paving work is projected to begin in late June, with a completion target of July 31. The contractors have agreed to not work on holidays or Jewish holidays, however, work could continue through 8 pm as needed.

All streets will be open with traffic control during work hours, and will be completely open after hours with plates covering work areas as needed. Residents should note that equipment will be stored on the street. Contractors will ensure that restoration will be completed at the end of the project. Work will begin at Galbraith Road and work back into the subdivision. (Above, curb repair on Rollman Estates Drive is shown with plates across a driveway for uninterrupted access.)

Questions regarding the project should be directed to Village Zoning Administrator Chris Fritsch at cfritsch@amberleyvillage.org or 513-531-8675.

Village Seeks Resident Volunteers

to Assist with Increase in Litter Along Roads

Ever wonder what it takes to keep the Village clean and looking its pristine best? Our small but mighty Maintenance Crew collects upward of 50-70 bags of trash on average per month. This is in addition to the many services like brush collection, snow removal, catch basin repairs.

The Village is seeking residents who enjoy walking and wish to contribute to the betterment of the community by assisting with litter pickup. Village Administration will supply trash bags, gloves, safety vests and litter grabbers for pickup along Galbraith, Ridge and Section Roads. If interested, please contact Maintenance Supervisor Ryan Monahan at rmonahan@amberleyvillage.org or 513-531-8675 to get started! Your valuable service to the community is more greatly maximized by freeing up our Maintenance Crews to better serve you and your neighbors. Thanks in advance for your consideration!

New Campaign to Encourage Residents to

Redirect Qualified Income Tax Back to the Village

As we process our 2023 tax returns, now is a great time to remind residents who are working from home or in hybrid roles that Amberley Village's primary source of revenue is from income tax. Some or all of your tax dollars, if you work from home either full or part time, are eligible to come back to Amberley Village!

Be sure and benefit yourself and your neighbors, and Bring It Home by updating your tax information to reflect your work location. Look for future communications from Amberley Village as we work to assist residents in updating their tax information.

Duke Energy to Service Inside Meters

Above: Click the image above to see the letter in its entirety.

Amberley Village residents with inside gas meters recently received notification from Duke Energy that Southern Cross has been contracted to read meters located inside homes within the Village.

More than 650 letters went out to Amberley Village residents notifying homeowners of the plan, which aids Duke Energy in regulating billing to each address. Energy companies typically estimate usage when billing customers, so an actual meter reading can benefit residents who actively work toward energy efficiency.

Residents are reminded of your right to request identification when a meter reader comes to your door. At the same time, you are encouraged to allow the meter reader to enter your home to allow for the reading, but feel free to accompany the reader to your meter location for additional security.

Inspectors will be checking both gas meters and pipes. Questions? Contact Southern Cross at 888-694-7284 or Duke Energy Customer Service at 800-544-6900.

Cost-Saving Culture:

Update on New "Take a Bag, Leave a Bag"

Initiative at Amberley Green

Amberley Village Maintenance Crews are encouraging those who walk their dogs at Amberley Green to bring their used plastic grocery bags to the new bag dispensers installed at the kiosk. Maintenance has been loading the bags into the new dispensers twice a week, but the supply is depleting quickly, especially over the weekend while Crews are off work.

Regular bag donations have been plentiful via the green bin in the Municipal Building Lobby, and the new program seems to be working well so far, as the bags are being used and staff hasn't noticed any blowing around Amberley Green. The goal now is to work to sustain the program by encouraging dogwalkers to participate in supplying the dispensers.

Please help spread the word!

Special thanks to our talented Maintenance Crew for designing and building the new bag dispensers and collection barrel.

Village Awarded $12,800 for Recycling Efforts

A direct deposit was made to Amberley Village from the Hamilton County Auditor's Office for $12,800. This represents our 2024 Resident Recycling Incentive Award for 2023, as our residents collectively diverted 1,067.93 tons of recyclable materials and achieved a 46.05% diversion rate, which places the Village award amount in the highest possible award category at $36.11 per ton recycled.

This compares to having conserved enough energy to power every home in Amberley Village for 12 days, having reduced air pollution equivalent to every household in the Village riding their bicycle to work for 12 weeks, or saving 2,710 trees from being harvested.

This compares to having conserved enough energy to power every home in Amberley Village for 12 days, having reduced air pollution equivalent to every household in the Village riding their bicycle to work for 12 weeks, or saving 2,710 trees from being harvested. Awards from the past two years were slightly larger, which according to R3source, is a result of Rumpke's inability to recycle approximately 16% of what it received from all communities. Residents are reminded to be mindful of what goes in their recycling bins. Guidelines are available on the Amberley Village website, as well as at rumpke.com.
