Northley re-designated as School to Watch

On Friday morning, June 2, Northley Middle School was awarded the re-designation as a Don Eichorn School to Watch (STW). Northley is just one of 10 schools in PA to receive re-designation this year and only 38 schools have this prestigious designation.

Superintendent Dr. George Steinhoff, Assistant Superintendent Dr. Eric Kuminka, select teachers, and students were joined by the STW PA Director Mr. Bruce Vosburgh for the official ceremony featuring the Northley Steelpan Corp and honors choir members Lucy Esposito and Amaya Howard.

Also present, were the Northley Middle School STW Committee including: Eileen Martin, Nicole Armbruster, Lisa Pasceri, Gina Ragan, Michelle Ritz, and Jamie York.

PA STW State leaders select each school for its Academic Excellence, Developmental Responsiveness, Social Equity and Organizational Structures and Processes. In addition, each school has strong leadership, teachers who work together to improve curriculum and instruction, and a commitment to assessment and accountability to bring about continuous improvement.

Secondary schools post summer reading

While students are barely home for summer break, we've already posted summer reading assignments for our students entering grades 6 - 12. Reading year round is an important part of academic growth -- and enjoyment. Please go to our reading sections at pdsd.org to access your summer reading assignments. They are also available to your student via Schoology. Relax with a great book (or three!) this summer.
