Amberley Village Alert System
|
|
After working through a few initial bugs, Amberley Village Alert System is growing! The system enables staff to send location-based, targeted alerts to keep you informed of road projects, emergencies, road closures, utility shut-offs, and events specific to your address.
You have the power to choose how you prefer to hear from us, including voice, text or email, and you can unsubscribe at any time.
| |
Please note that this is NOT the previous alert system, which is now defunct. In order to receive regular updates, we must have a new set of permissions to contact you. Residents can use the QR code above or text Amberley to 24639 to register on their mobile phone, register online at https://accountportal.onsolve.net/Amberley, or stop by or call Amberley Village Administration at 513-531-8675. Assistance is also available via Dispatch 24/7.
Traffic Light Timing Along Ridge Road
|
With the closure of westbound Norwood Lateral, the Village traffic engineer has responded to a recent staff inquiry to determine if altering the timing of the traffic lights might ease the increased traffic along Ridge Road.
Our engineer assures us that the lights are timed to optimize flow, and the only way to provide more gaps is to have more lost time at congested intersections making our situation worse. Given the turning movements onto Ridge from westbound Galbraith and from the eastbound off-ramp, it has been determined that adding time would not provide enough additional gaps in traffic on Ridge to justify any change.
The best way to mitigate delays is to allow for additional travel time and to seek alternative routes. While we understand this can be inconvenient, please bear in mind it is only temporary with Norwood Lateral expected to reopen in late September. Thanks for your patience during these final months of construction!

Hunt Road Closure Could
Impact Cross County Traffic
| |
|
The City of Reading recently contracted with W.E. Smith for a project on Hunt Road to install a pier to fix an issue where the sidewalk is sliding down into the adjacent creek. The project is scheduled to take approximately two months to complete, with a target of September 1 for completion. The section of Hunt Road between Fuhrman Road and Waxwing Drive will be closed completely for the duration of the project, as well as the sidewalk in that area.
Expect increased traffic on Cross County as Reading and Blue Ash residents seek alternative routes to and from home.
There are also two changes to Reading traffic patterns, particularly of interest to residents in the north portion of the Village, as follows:
Reading and Columbia - In the West Bound Traffic on Columbia, the right lane will be right only and the left lane will be straight and left turns.
Hunt and Columbia - There will no longer be a left turn permitted from Hunt Road onto Columbia.

Prairie Garden at Amberley Green Update
|
The first mowing at the Amberley Green Prairie Garden took place in late June - an important step in the development of this grant-funded project!
Regular mowing during the early years of the Prairie Garden ensures the native species grow in strong, while prohibiting invasives from further spread as prescribed by the Cincinnati Nature Center (CNC).
In the CNC's land management plan for the Amberley Green Prairie, it states, "the recommended maintenance will seem counterintuitive as there may be some flowering natives present, but the most important thing for the prairie at this stage is to prevent further spread of weedy and invasive species."
The project, which was funded by grants from Hamilton County Public Health WeTHRIVE! and Duke Energy, aims to restore native habitat, reduce invasive species, and establish an environmentally friendly space where mowing is limited, and visitors can relax in nature. For more information, access the full land management plan and an invasive species removal guide provided by Cincinnati Nature Center below. We hope you enjoy watching our garden grow as much as we do!

2024 Accelerated Streets Program Update
|
Work is underway on this year's Streets Program, which includes the following roads in Rollman Estates:
- Rollman Estates Drive
- Glenfarm Court
- Beech Hollow Drive
- Clearwood Court
- Ambercreek Drive
- Rolling Ridge Court
- Ridgeway Close
Curbs and catch basins were recently completed, and no work will take place over July 4th or Jewish holidays. Road paving is slated to begin the week of July 8.
All streets will be open with traffic control during work hours, and will be completely open after hours with plates covering work areas as needed. Residents should note that equipment will be stored on the street. Contractors will ensure that restoration will be completed at the end of the project.
Questions regarding the project should be directed to Village Zoning Administrator Chris Fritsch at cfritsch@amberleyvillage.org or 513-531-8675.

2024 One Stop Drop Survey
& Event Results Are In!
| |
The Amberley Village One Stop Drop served more than 500 cars this year, representing almost 100 more cars than last year. The Environmental Stewardship Committee (ESC) had 20 volunteers who provided 77 hours of work for the event, which was also an increase from the 60.5 hours served last year. The chart below highlights collection results for the event:
|
Feedback from the 2024 Survey was equally positive. Respondents were nearly double the number from the 2022 Survey, and were all very complimentary to organizers of the event, especially traffic flow and efficiency. The majority of respondents were 66-79 years of age, and mostly comprised of two-person households. Village News and signage were the most popular methods for learning about the event, and the vast majority of respondents were repeat participants.
Special thanks to the Amberley Village ESC, volunteers, and Village staff - along with all of the recyclers and partner organizations, including Rumpke, Cohen and Goodwill, for making this another successful event!

Amberley Village is committed to keeping lines of communication open and accessible between residents and government officials. In this spirit, Amberley Village has incorporated Village-issued email addresses for Councilmembers into its digital communications protocol.
These measures unify the format, making it easier for residents to send a message when an issue comes to mind. The member's first initial followed by last name (no space) @amberleyvillage.org will get your message on its way to members of the Amberley Village Council.
Even easier, visit our website and just click on the links to reach your elected officials!
