ISBT Member Reflects on the Benefit of Membership & BevTech

ISBT Member Profile! Roderick Read, Sr Manager, Beverage Innovations with Molson Coors Beverage Company recently won an iPad through our membership and referral drive and remarked on what value ISBT brings to his beverage career:

"Last year was my first year with ISBT and hands down the ISBT BevTech Expo and Conference has been the most impactful, fruitful and beneficial I have experienced in my 17 years in the beverage industry. The content is thorough and educational with new to the world content that you don’t see at most conferences. The community members are industry professionals that are actively engaged to share knowledge and further the advancement of the industry, not self serving. In addition, and partly why it’s so great, is the more intimate size of the community.

This is an organization of professionals first, not just social club (though the members are quite wonderful and fun people) that come from all nations with a similar passion and goal to further the industry and share new tech, innovation and knowledge.

I’ve been a member of many associations and, without a doubt from a technical beverage standpoint, this is the best community to join."

Thank you, Rod, for sharing your love for ISBT and the BevTech show. Renew or join ISBT today!

Application Deadline for the ISBT Scholarship is the end of March

It is the objective of the ISBT scholarship program to provide financial support to academically qualified students who have shown an interest in pursuing a career in the beverage industry by coursework or an internship with beverage companies or suppliers to the beverage industry. The ISBT Scholarship Committee works closely with selected universities and will award these scholarships based on the recommendations of the appropriate department Chairs of the schools selected.

The ISBT scholarship is awarded annually by the International Society of Beverage Technologists in the amount of $1,000 to a student meeting our outlined criteria. Once the recipient has been identified, they can continue the support until graduation as long as they maintain the requirements and recommendation set by the department. The review will occur annually by the University representative and Scholarship Committee within ISBT. Upon graduation the student is granted 1 year free membership. ISBT's Bylaws require that members be at least 21 years of age. In the event the scholarship recipient is an ISBT member already in the beverage industry role, the same academic and employment guidelines will be required.

Exciting Staff Changes at ISBT!

The ISBT staff is expanding! After the recent retirement of our Executive Director, the executive committee and the Board of Directors have been looking at the most efficient way of operating the society. Out of a commitment to provide the best and most valuable experience for our members, it was decided not to hire a new Executive Director but to move to a distributed work model. This means several staff members with specific skillsets working part-time focused where their skills are best used. I am proud to introduce our ISBT staff. Committee Profile

Sweetener Technical Committee

The goal of the Sweetener Technical Committee is to foster an environment in which beverage industry professionals can share information relating to sweeteners; including their use, benefits, issues, storage, security, sustainability, and transportation that promotes continuous improvement and environmental responsibility. It is a forum where sweetener manufacturers, beverage producers, and supply chain providers can share mutually beneficial technologies that will enhance the beverage industry; and where technical questions, ideas, and problems related to sweeteners and their utilization can be openly presented with the expectation of receiving satisfactory discussions, answers, or solutions.
