Honoring our Mothers and Fathers!

On May 13, 2018 the Franciscan Center hosted it first-ever Mother's Day Brunch!  With the help of many wonderful volunteers and supporters, we served a delicious breakfast to 120 Moms and their families - complete with made-to-order waffles!  There were fun craft activities for the children, and each Mom left with a Mother's day flower.  Special thanks to everyone who helped to make this wonderful event such a great success!

We are celebrating our fathers with a
Father's Day lunch on Sunday, June 17 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.  in the Franciscan Center's dining room!  Our guests will enjoy barbecue with all the trimmings, fellowship, and fun activities for the children. It promises to be a very special celebration!   If you would like to volunteer for this exciting event or support it with a donation, please contact Meg Ducey at:  mducey@fcbmore.org.
Summer Fun with a Purpose!

Those lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer are right around the corner - and as our students prepare to pack away their books and enjoy vacation, many families will be looking for ways to fill those long summer hours.

The Franciscan Center offers family-friendly volunteer opportunities, and a way to earn those all-important service hours for school.  This year we are also offering students the opportunity to earn this St. Francis Patch, recognizing their compassion and their service to our hungry and homeless neighbors.

Contact Angela Hall to schedule your volunteer service, at:  ahall@fcbmore.org or

You Can Help Share
Christmas in July!

For most of us, summer means planning vacations and  spending leisure time with family and friends.  But for many of our most vulnerable neighbors, summer brings a desperate struggle to feed their families, with children out of school and eating all their meals at home.  The Franciscan Center typically serves about 2,000 - 2,500 meals a week.  During the summer months, that number can be as high as 3,000!

This time each year we reach out to our friends in the community for help us provide non-perishable food and toiletry items to
our neighbors in need through the Center's "Christmas in July" project.  We also collect new school supplies during the summer months, so we can send children back to school in September with everything they need to be successful.  Rather than a "one-size fits all" bag of school supplies, we fill book bags based on each child's class list, giving them exactly what they need for the school year.

Please consider taking up a "Christmas in July" collection at your church or office.  Your support of this project can spell academic success for area children in need!  Check out our website for a list of items needed: Christmas in July
A Call for Volunteers!

The Franciscan Center operates as a "one-stop shop" for families and individuals in crisis from throughout Baltimore, serving as many as 700 men, women and children daily, five days a week throughout the year. This would simply not be possible without the help of our many wonderful volunteers, who give so generously of their time and talent.  Please consider serving as a volunteer at the Center!  Here are some current critical    needs:

  • Volunteers to serve our Monday evening Community Dinner from 5:00 - 7:30 each week.
  • An additional barber to give haircuts to our guests on Monday, Tuesday  Thursday or Friday
  •  A retired social worker to help out once a week in our Responsive Services department from 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Contact Angela Hall to share your time and talent, at: ahall@fcbmore.org or

410-467, 5340 ext. 113.
