Have you ever wanted to get involved with IVAPM but not sure how? Do you know someone who is REALLY wanting to get more involved? Here is your chance! Service on the IVAPM Board of Directors is an opportunity to help drive the decisions of our association and shape the future of animal pain management, prevention and treatment within veterinary communities, both nationally and internationally.
This year, we have the following open positions:

President-Elect (six-year commitment; two-years as President-Elect, President, Past-President)
- Position Prerequisites:
- A minimum of 2 years involved with IVAPM as a Current or Former Board Member and/or a current or former Committee Member.
- A current member of IVAPM in good standing

4 Director At-Large positions (four-year commitment)
- Position Prerequisites:
- A current member of IVAPM in good standing
The IVAPM Board of Directors includes representation from all aspects of the pain management field, and this year we would like the 2021 nominees to have an area of expertise in, but not limited to, these following categories:
- Alternative Medicine
- International (outside of North America)
- Emergency Medicine
- Anesthesia
- General Practice
- Other
Participation on the IVAPM Board of Directors requires:
- Attending monthly teleconference meetings (typically 30-45 minutes in length)
- Attending one to two in-person meetings annually, two days in length usually in conjunction with major veterinary conferences
- Responding to emails consistently and in a timely manner
- Participating in discussions to create and drive ideas and initiatives
- Participating in committee work and other projects as needed
- Expecting to spend up to four to six hours per month addressing BOD issues as needed aside from the above-mentioned teleconferences.
Additional responsibilities specific to executive board members are as follows:
President-Elect
- The President-Elect shall temporarily perform the duties of the President when the President is unable to be present or perform his/her duties.
- The President-Elect shall oversee committee chairpersons, ensure the timely submission of yearly written reports, serve as an Ex-Officio on the IVAPM Foundation Board of Directors, providing Foundation updates and information, and perform additional duties applicable to the position.
