Renowned Jacksonville-based artist Emma Greenhill invites you to immerse yourself in her latest exhibition, a testament to resilience, inner strength, and the beauty of the human spirit. Known for her captivating figurative works, Greenhill's artistry transcends mere representation, offering viewers a glimpse into her imagination and personal journey.
As a three-time cancer survivor, Greenhill's portraits of women reflect personal experiences of overcoming adversity with grace and courage. Her paintings, often imbued with themes of inner peace and spiritual awakening, resonate deeply with audiences, evoking emotions and stirring contemplation.
Nature is a prominent motif in Greenhill's work, with whimsical compositions featuring birds, moths, and other animals. Through her art, she endeavors to capture the strength and vulnerability of women navigating life's challenges.
Emma Greenhill is no stranger to acclaim, having showcased her work at art shows across Florida and represented by the esteemed Butterfield Garage Art Gallery in St. Augustine. Connect with Emma Greenhill through her website, www.emmagreenhillart.com.
To delve deeper into the artistic narrative, Greenhill's exhibition is accompanied by the evocative poetry of Jenny Noble Anderson. In her own words, Anderson shares the profound impact of poetry in her life, offering a unique perspective on the human experience.
Jenny Noble Anderson is a poet featured in the Breakwater Review, Moss Gossamer Anthology of North Florida Poets, Eunoia Review, Poets Unlimited, (a) River Rising: An Anthology of Women's Voices Volumes 1 & 2, A Gathering of Poets and elsewhere.
She was named a 2023 finalist for the Perseroff Prize in poetry and her first full collection, But Still She Flies: Poems and Paintings, a collaboration with artist Emma Greenhill, received the 2022 Gold Nautilus Book Award. This book may be purchased at the exhibition or by clicking the linked title above.
Join us in celebrating the synergy of art and poetry, where each stroke of the brush and every carefully crafted word invites us to explore the depths of the human soul.
The title of the featured painting is 'Hear My Voice', 36x48" acrylic and oil on canvas. It is from Emma Greenhill's new series 'Women In Prayer'

Hunger Fight 2024
Sunday, April 7
Following the 10:30 a.m. service in Taliaferro Hall.
Uniting for a Common Cause
As we gear up for our upcoming packing event to combat hunger, we're reminded of the profound impact that comes from working together towards a common goal. Our Outreach Council is hosting a Hunger Fight packing event where we aim to prepare over 11,000 meals for those in need. What makes this event truly special is that every single person can play a part and contribute to this monumental effort.
While no individual can pack 11,000 meals alone, together, we can achieve this incredible feat in just a few hours. During the event, you can participate by filling bags with nutritious oatmeal or adding brown sugar to enhance the flavor. Every action, no matter how small, contributes to the larger goal. Once filled, the packets are sealed and packed into cartons, ready to be distributed to those facing hunger in our community.
By volunteering just a few hours, each participant helps provide essential meals to individuals and families in need. It's a simple yet impactful way to give back and make a positive difference in the lives of others.
Thank you to all who have registered to participate! Remember to wear comfortable shoes as you will be standing for two hours. ~Nancy Purcell

Free Wheelchair Mission Founder Visits
St. John's Cathedral
Free Wheelchair Mission Founder Don Schoendorfer and Director of Development Angela Gomez will visit St. John’s Cathedral on Sunday, April 14. Join them at the Dean's Forum at 9 a.m. or the Coffee Hour and Book Signing after the 10:30 a.m. service to learn more about the Free Wheelchair Mission. Both events take place in Taliaferro Hall.
Free Wheelchair Mission is the world’s largest nonprofit manufacturer of cost-efficient, durable wheelchairs designed for the developing world. Since 2001, they have distributed more than 1.4 million wheelchairs to individuals living with disabilities in 95 countries, providing renewed dignity, independence, and hope through the gift of mobility.
| |
Watch the video below to see the deep gratitude of a young woman in Brazil, who received her first wheelchair from Free Wheelchair Mission. She had been living on the ground. Now she is seated in a wheelchair and given the gift of mobility for the first time. The gift enabled her to RISE!, literally a gift of resurrection.
Throughout the Easter season, St. John's is offering an X4 Gift Challenge to give people all over the world this very same gift. Your gift of $96 (the cost of a wheelchair) will be doubled by a generous St. John's Cathedral member. Then, this doubled gift will be matched by Free Wheelchair Mission, so your gift now provides four wheelchairs to people who need them. Four people will RISE! from living on the ground and crawling to get from place to place. Imagine the possibilities! Learn more and donate here.
