NEW Formation Hour Begins February 18
Starting Sunday, February 18, we will be making an adjustment to our worship times. We’re moving to an 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. schedule. This shift will allow us to dive into a more vibrant and robust formation experience - The Formation Hour - right in the heart of our morning gatherings.
In embracing this new Formation Hour (from 9 to 10:15 a.m.), we're reshaping our Sunday mornings to be a community-wide, intergenerational journey of spiritual growth and fellowship. Here is what we've planned:
- Breakfast will be served in the hallway near the coffee station. You can pick up your food and take it to class.
- The return of the Dean's Forum in Taliaferro Hall promises insightful discussions on vital topics, starting with the Lenten theme of Reconciliation. Read more about this series below.
-
Families will find a haven in the Sunday Flex Cafe (Ingram Lounge). Parents can unwind in cozy surroundings while children (PreK-5th grade) engage in creative activities at the table. The Sunday Flex Cafe offers a perfect blend of relaxation with meaningful connection. Drop in as you please.
- For our youngest members (age 3 and under), the Hakimian Family Nursery will be open from 9 a.m. to noon to provide a safe and nurturing space and ensure parents can participate fully in the morning's activities with peace of mind.
- Teens (6th-12th grades) are invited to the Undercroft for a casual start to their day, recognizing their unique needs and desire for a more relaxed environment.
-
For those seeking deeper connections, the opportunity to gather in small groups or discipleship groups amidst our gardens or in Cummings Chapel offers a chance for intimate discussions and shared spiritual growth. If you would like to learn more about small groups or to be placed in one, please contact Owene Courtney. If you are in a small group, consider gathering on Sundays at 9 a.m.

Palanca Prayers Requested for St. John's Cursillo Pilgrims
Marc Willis is attending the Cursillo Men's Weekend February 29 through March 3.
Felicia Bullock is attending the Women's Weekend March 7 through March 10
The word “palanca” is Spanish for a lever or crowbar. In the sense in which it is used in Cursillo, it means Eucharist, Rosaries, fasting, prayers, and personal sacrifices which are offered on behalf of the Cursillistas or Pilgrims. You are invited to write "palanca" prayers for Marc and Felecia and drop your prayer in the Palanca box that is under the table in the hallway across from the elevator. These prayers can express gratitude for the gifts of service, prayer, concern, and care shown by the recipient, reassure them of a power greater than themselves, or offer insights, words of wisdom, encouragement, and guidance. Place your prayers for each Marc and Felicia in the box prior to and during their retreat weekend. Thank you!
