New look for County
property tax bills
Residents should soon be receiving their property tax bills, and they have a new look. Treasurer Cathy Traywick and her team have worked to ensure the bills are more reader-friendly and can be easily understood by property owners. The new format includes a breakdown of your taxes, which entity is responsible for setting them, and who to contact if you have questions. Let battle commence
in the desert badlands!
Step back in time at the Badlands Bedlam event in Bowie on October 18-21. This medieval-themed extravaganza will include a 3-day battle and camping event, with armored combat, archery and rapier fighting. There will also be vendors, food, and entertainment. Learn more

An evening under the stars
in the Chiricahuas
Enjoy an Evening Under The Stars with the Tucson Amateur Astronomy Association at their Chiricahau Astronomy Complex, in the Turkey Creek area. This event will take place on October 13, 5:30pm-8:30pm. Club members will have telescopes available and the planets Venus, Jupiter, Saturn and Mars will be visible. Reservations are required. A look back at the 2018 Cochise County Fair
The Board of Supervisors once again sponsored the Annual Cochise County Fair, which took place for the 94th time last weekend. Several of our departments had booths to get public feedback on our many services. Watch the short video to get a flavor of this Cochise County tradition.
Health Dept. sets up Naco HAZMAT helpline
Naco residents with health concerns regarding the ongoing HAZMAT situation can call a bilingual telephone number and talk to a member of the County's health team. The County also hosted a free immunization clinic last week for adults, and will stage a children's clinic later this month. For the latest on this situation click here .

The following County employees were recognized last month for a job well done:
Abby Dodge (Court Administration/CASA) for completing a major database project and her volunteer efforts, Dee Putnam (Public Defender's Office) for providing excellent assistance, Gabriel Valenzuela (IT) for excellent customer service, Marty Haverty (Public Works) for implementing an interdepartmental philosophy to foster efficiency and effectiveness, Nancy Lopez (Prevention Services) for volunteering to provide WIC services to clients in Bisbee and Douglas, Lydia Flores (Prevention Services/WIC) for taking on more case loads, Oogie Altamirano and Rene Garcia (Fleet) for retrieving keys from an employee's locked vehicle.
Transportation organization welcomes new administrator
The Sierra Vista Metropolitan Planning Organization (SVMPO) has a new administrator - former County employee Karen Lamberton. The SVMPO has formed in 2012 and is the designated transportation planning organization for Sierra Vista and areas within Cochise County. Read more
