'New Member' Classes April 20, 21

Are you interested in joining Piedmont Church? Or do you just want to learn more about who we are, what we believe and what we do? Then you're invited to attend our next Come and See gathering hosted by Steve Schibsted and Don Ashburn. 


There are two dates and times to choose from (you need only attend one gathering): either on Saturday, April 20 from 9-11am, or Sunday, April 21 from 11:30am - 1:30pm.


We will be in the Guild Parlor to share a bit about who we are and what brings us to Piedmont Church and how we can grow together in faith and service. Refreshments will be provided. 


Childcare is available for younger children. You can sign up to attend the gathering and/or for childcare in three ways: 


1) In the Courtyard on Sunday morning

Life Groups Discuss Psalm 23

Life Groups are small groups that gather weekly on Thursday evenings from April 18 through May 16. The topic for discussion during this session will be The 23rd Psalm.


We start with a simple dinner at 6:15pm in Guild Hall. Then, we get together in groups meeting in various rooms at the church at 7pm for sharing, support and study. Any adult is invited to be part of a group, whether you’ve attended in the past or not.

Church Center App Training April 28

Are you having trouble logging in or accessing the new Piedmont Church online directory? You are invited to a 1-hour training session with Operations Coordinator Mariana Navarrete on Sunday, April 28 in the Sanctuary after worship.


This hands-on session will guide you through the app's basics with video demos and practical exercises. 


For a smoother experience, please bring your email address and password.

Deadline for Messenger articles is 12 noon Monday.

Items received after Monday will be considered for the next edition.

Kids Summer Camp with Scuba

Get ready for an incredible week of adventure at Piedmont Community Church's Kids Summer Camp with Scuba! It's a whole week of non-stop fun designed just for kids.

 

Summer camp is an unforgettable week filled with phenomenal teaching, fantastic worship and biblical truth presented in a very unique way, for kids ages 4 through 5th grade. This will be an awesome week for kids to build relationships with friends and leaders, and go deeper into their relationship with Christ. Camp will be held June 3-7 from 8:30am to noon and aftercare will be available for an additional fee from 12-3pm.


We’ll end the week with a fabulous Luau, water slide and other tropical fun. 


Cost:  $189/per child

  • Aftercare from 12-3pm is available at an additional cost of $75. Kids staying for aftercare should bring their own lunch.

A memorial service for church member Shelagh Udovch will be held in the Sanctuary on Friday, April 26, 11am.

GRIEF GROUP

The Grief Group meets biweekly from 10 - 11:30am on Saturday in the Murdoch Room. Our next two meetings are April 27 and May 11. The group is open to anyone who has lost loved ones and is looking for a caring and supportive space with others who have also felt this profound loss.

SPIRITUAL FORMATION

Online Bible Study

Don Ashburn leads a weekly online Bible Study on Monday mornings from 10-11am. From April 22 to May 20, we will be studying the Old Testament book of Ruth.

Help Overcome Food Insecurity

Nearly 12% of Bay Area residents are food insecure. Join your Piedmont Church friends at the Alameda County Community Food Bank on Wednesday, May 29 at 9am to bag food for distribution to ACCFB recipients.

Let's give back to nature by cleaning up Martin Luther King Jr. Regional Shoreline. This event is open to all, 3 year olds and older, and can support help of all kinds. We will have trash clean up safety gear available, and donuts and coffee to power us through the morning.


While the event runs from 9am - 12pm, feel free to swing through and support the effort even if just for an hour.

April President's Report

We had a busy Holy Week with well-attended services throughout the week. On Easter Sunday, we had an outstanding total of 681 people attending (474 in person and 207 online), which demonstrates growth in participation over last year and recent years.


The Mexico Mission trip attendees arrived home this weekend. The full report has not been received and will be shared in the future.  Approximately 200 students and adult volunteers spent one week building 12 homes in Tijuana. On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I want to thank all the volunteers who participated and those who worked at home to make this trip happen. It is a monumental effort to enable our local youth to help those in need in Mexico.

'MESSENGER', BULLETIN, CALENDAR

The Messenger

Piedmont Church’s online newsletter, The Messenger, is the primary source of communication. The Messenger is published digitally and distributed via email weekly.


Deadline for articles to appear in The Messenger is 12 noon each Monday. Articles submitted after deadline will be considered for the following week.


Michael Barber edits copy and designs the layout of each Messenger with careful consideration of article placement. Placement is determined based on relevance to the congregation and the wider community. 

 

Sunday Bulletin

Sunday bulletin and worship announcements are decided by Michael based on Tuesday discussions with Staff and lay leadership.


Print deadline for Sunday Bulletin is Tuesday, 12pm.
