Seven Grand Island Senior High students signed on as apprentices with Chamber partners — AGI Grand Island, Chief Buildings, Chief Fabrication, Holiday Express, and Overhead Door.
GIPS Superintendent Matt Fisher thanked the business community for its support for the Academy of Technical Sciences and its apprenticeship program. The pathways offer dual credit courses for juniors and seniors through Central Community College, with students earning industry certifications.
The academy at GISH offers specialized pathways in five high-wage, high-skill, and high-demand careers. GISH is one of only 11 schools in the Nebraska with this program — six high schools, three community colleges, and two universities.
