CS PRESENTS: SASHA PAPERNIK & JUSTIN POINDEXTER
|
American music is full of iconic duos, where two artists’ skills combine to make something truly special. The haunting close harmonies of the Everly Brothers, the swinging phrasing of the Barry Sisters, and the dazzling musical innovations of Les Paul and Mary Ford profoundly influenced successive generations of musicians, and their legacies are still celebrated today.
At Wellfleet Preservation Hall tomorrow evening, August 8, at 7:00 PM, highly acclaimed Americana duo Sasha Papernik and Justin Poindexter will perform Everly Brothers and Beyond, saluting their favorite musical duos alongside their own award-winning original songs. Sasha sings and plays piano and accordion. Justin sings and plays guitar. Together, they will win your heart.
Tickets are $25, available through Eventbrite.
“Cape Symphony Presents” is an eclectic showcase of world-class music that transcends genres, shares stories, and brings people together at venues across the Cape and Islands.

THIS WEEK IN MUSIC HISTORY
|
On August 9, 1862, Hector Berlioz’s last opera, Béatrice et Bénédict, premiered in Germany. Berlioz was a French Romantic composer. His father had wanted him to be a doctor like himself, but young Berlioz defied his family to pursue a life in music. Unwilling to follow the traditional rules and formulas of composition, he was expelled from the Paris Conservatoire after just two years of study. Throughout his career, some critics considered him an original genius; others, an undisciplined rogue.
Berlioz is best known for his unconventional, even shocking Symphonie fantastique (1830), which your Cape Symphony Orchestra will perform on November 16 & 17, 2024 as part of our Masterpiece series. Alyssa Wang will conduct. Get your Fantastique tickets today!
