ABC Unified School District Receives $189,252 for the Strong Workforce Program (SWP)
CC congratulates ABC Unified School District (a CC client) for receiving the Strong Workforce Program (SWP) System Diagnostic and Repair for the 21st Century from the CA Department of Education in the amount of $189,252.

Huntington Beach City School District Receives $2,600 for the Social Emotional Learning Innovation Fund

California Consulting is pleased to spotlight the City of Redwood City. The City of Redwood City is a San Francisco Bay Area community located in Silicon Valley. It is the third largest city in the county of San Mateo and enjoys an average of 255 sunny days a year. Redwood City is a community that believes in working together to improve the quality of life for everyone. It has quickly become known as the entertainment hub of the San Francisco Peninsula offering residents, visitors, and businesses a unique, retail, entertainment, and restaurant experience.

Shasta Bell,
Director of Communications
California Consulting is exited to spotlight Shasta Bell our Director of Communications. Shasta is responsible for developing communication strategies including writing publications, web marketing and website management, creating and managing social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn, media outreach and coordinating conferences. She also manages the executive office administration!

Formerly the Executive Assistant to the President of Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Arts (SAG-AFTRA), she has highly valued union knowledge as she participated in all aspects of union life, including quality analysis, member satisfaction, and merger assistance.
California Consulting Welcomes Dr. JC Rivers as our Newest Project Manager
California Consulting is pleased to welcome Dr. JC Rivers as our newest Project Manager. Ms. Rivers has a Ph.D. in Leadership and Organization from Columbia University’s Teacher’s College. With over 30 years in leadership positions, her professional experience, expertise, and interest are in health care and education management, organization development, capacity- and infrastructure- building and social responsibility. 

During the 1990s, Dr. Rivers was founding staff for several government-sponsored, and commercial managed care organizations, and have extensive experience in human services, school systems, and higher education. She has been a guest speaker with forums on public health, urban education, and grant and revenue development. 

She currently serves as a member of several boards of directors. Dr. River’s has a passion for social justice and championing causes for the disenfranchised and underserved urban and rural communities.

U.S. Department of Transportation: 2019 Better Utilizing Investments to Leverage Development (BUILD)

Application Deadline: July 15, 2019

Amount: $5 million to $25 million (if in a rural area, there is no minimum grant amount)

Match: Yes - Per the FY 2019 Appropriations Act, the Federal share of project costs for which an expenditure is made under the BUILD Transportation grant program may not exceed 80 percent for a project located in an urban area. The Secretary may increase the Federal share of costs above 80 percent for a project located in a rural area.

Eligibility: Eligible Applicants for BUILD Transportation Discretionary Grants are States, local and tribal governments, including U.S. territories, transit agencies, port authorities, metropolitan planning organizations (MPOs), and other political subdivisions of State or local governments. Multiple States or jurisdictions may submit a joint application and must identify a lead applicant as the primary point of contact. Each project party in a joint application must be an Eligible Applicant. Joint applications must include a description of the roles and responsibilities of each project party and must be signed by each project party.

05/23/19- Californa Consulting Senior Associate (Bay Area) Stephen Sanger attended an agenda packed League of Cities East Bay Division dinner last night.

Attendees were treated to an insightful presentation on the current state of CalPERS investments and funding by their Managing Investment Director, Eric Baggesen.

05/24/19- California Consulting CEO Steve Samuelian was asked to introduce Congresswoman Judy Chu at an Armenian-American community leaders meeting held on May 24, 2019, at the Tekeyan Cultural Association office in Altadena.

The meeting was attended by more than thirty Armenian community leaders including Presidents and Representatives of many Armenian-American Associations.
