Coachella Valley Unified School District Receives $2 Million from California Department of Education for the Learning Communities for School Success Program

Central Union Elementary School District
California Consulting is excited to spotlight our client, Central Union Elementary School District, for the month of July.

Central Union ESD has been a client for 7.5 years. Our partnership strategically secured $2,019,046 for the district. Central USD leadership's vision has guided the grant selection process and allowed the partnership to secure funding that was aligned with its vision.

Superintendent Addington stated: "Central Union has a great relationship with CC and the passion that our grant-writing consultant maintains to be a part of our District team and contributor to our success is unparalleled. We work hand in hand to find programs and supports, which complement the District’s needs, and goals and then we work collaboratively to attain our targets. This partnership has assisted us with leveraging our financial resources to complement District goals.

Central Union continues to enjoy a high return of investment of 631%!!!!
California Consulting Director of State Programs, Miriam De Loza met with several state agencies in the month of June to discuss grant opportunities and help gain insights into the vast array of resources available to grant applicants. Among these included, California Department of Parks and Recreation, California Energy Commission, and California Office of Emergency Services.

The feedback from these meetings is crucial in helping our team of grant writers navigate through the various funding opportunities available with these state agencies. Additionally, learning about the different resources available helps ensure our grant writers and clients are always in the know when new funding opportunities arise. 

Miriam is based in Sacramento and will continue to meet with state agencies to discuss grant funding opportunities. These meetings will allow California Consulting to maintain a consistent presence with state agencies that provide funding opportunities.

Municipal Management Association of Northern California and California Consulting Host Highly Successful Grant Writing Webinar

Municipal Management Association of Northern California (MMANC) hosted a grant webinar and invited California Consulting, inc. to conduct the presentation.

MMANC is an organization composed of city officials from kern county all the way up to the Oregon border. More than 54 city leaders participated in the grant webinar.

The grants webinar presentation was conducted by California Consulting, inc. Senior Grant Specialist Ashley Ramsey. Team members from California Consulting joining the webinar included Director of Communications Shasta Bell, Bay Area Senior Associate Stephen Sanger, and Director of State Programs from Sacramento Miriam De Loza.

Amount: Minimum funding request is $250,000 (Non-infrastructure projects, Safe Routes to Schools projects, Recreational Trails projects, and Planning projects are exempt from this and may apply for smaller amounts).

Eligibility: cities, counties, county transportation commissions, regional transportation planning agencies, MPOs, school districts, and transit districts

CalTrans: Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) Cycle 11

Elizabeth Sabel Joins California Consulting as New Project Manager
California Consulting is pleased to welcomes Elizabeth Sabel as our New Project Manager.

Elizabeth Sabel is a grants professional with a background in non-profit fundraising. She has over 15 years of experience in researching and identifying funding prospects and writing successful government, foundation, and corporate grant proposals.
 
Elizabeth has secured funding for a wide range of projects with a focus on human services and expanding opportunities in under-served areas. Funded projects have supported youth mentoring, educational and employment services, reducing community violence, environmental conservation, youth transitioning from foster care, and individuals returning to the community from prison and jail.
 
Elizabeth has a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Arizona and is a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE). She lives in the San Francisco Bay Area and enjoys exploring the backroads and small towns of Northern California with her husband.
Reverend Dwight Williams Joins California Consulting as New Business Development Associate
California Consulting welcomes REv. Dwight Williams as new Business Development Associate for Central California

Reverend Dwight Williams is born and raised in Stockton, California, where he has always had a passion for public service. At the age of 19, Dwight was, at the time, one of the youngest ordained Ministers in the Central Valley region.

Dwight has deep nonprofit experience as a pastor, community development director, and public relations expert. He has been a candidate for public office, serving on numerous boards and commissions, and has a deep passion for public policy issues. Specializing in areas of housing, planning, religious liberty, economic development, and community engagement.

Eligibility: Public schools with existing libraries prior to a disaster. Must be within 36 months of a disaster and within 20 miles of a Dollar General store. See eligibility for further details.

Karen Simpson
California Consulting is pleased to spotlight our Senior Project Manager, Karen Simpson.

Karen Simpson joins Californian Consulting as a Project Manager located in Southern California. She has served within municipal government for 27 years for the Cities of Los Angeles, and Pomona, California. Karen has garnered her grant-writing skills for Federal and State funding opportunities from multiple Community and Economic Development programs.

She has extensive knowledge and training in grant program management, grant research, grant writing, and post-award program compliance. She is skilled in building collaborates between community-based organizations, faith-based entities, educational, and social institutions, which resulted in Federal grant awards totaling $10.4 million in less than 7 years. She has written grants addressing: at-risk children and youth, K-12 education, job training, homeless assistance, economic development, housing improvement, and lead-hazard control.
Karen is an Independent Grant Consultant for non-profit organizations providing grant writing services, capacity building, and funding strategies to help meet needs in underserved neighborhoods.
