Team Member Spotlight:

Project Manager Tracy Yassini

California Consulting is pleased to spotlight Tracy Yassini in our January newsletter.

Tracy brings over 20 years of experience to California Consulting clients. Tracy has written successful federal, state, corporate nonprofit, charitable trust, community, and private foundation grants for tribal governments, private and public companies, nonprofit organizations, and local governments. She has a wide array of interests which include education, environmental issues, food systems, public safety, and rare/single disease research.  


Tracy held key leadership positions at larger “institutional nonprofits” such as City of Hope National Medical Center, the Muscular Dystrophy Association, and the American Heart Association – experiences which have fortified her ability to shape persuasive, solid grant proposals that get funded. In addition, her understanding of programs, budgets, and organizational development enables her to “put all the pieces together” in a cohesive manner.  

She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from California State University, Dominguez Hills, and is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Los Angeles region. 



Tracy is a native Californian, born in Hollywood and raised in Huntington Beach. Her hobbies are surfing, salsa, traveling, and cooking when not looking for resources to make the world a better place.

Clayton Owens Joins California Consuliting

as Staff Assistant

California Consulting welcomes Clayton Owens as our new Staff Assistant. Clay successfully completed his internship with California Consulting, Inc. in the Summer of 2022. Upon completion, he was offered and accepted a paid position and has already written an award-winning grant application. 

 

Majoring in Real Estate Development at USC, he also was an active member of the baseball team for 4 years earning all PAC-12 honors and a Tommy Trojan Freshman of the year award.

 

Clayton states, “Baseball has allowed me to further develop my skills with teamwork, leadership, and Respect that I will carry throughout my professional career.”

 

In his free time, he enjoys reading, exercising, and attending sporting events.

U.S. Department of Homeland Security: Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program (AFG)

Deadline: February 10, 2023, at 5:00 PM ET

Amount: Up to $3.2 million

Match: Yes - Jurisdictions of 20,000 or less: 5%; Jurisdictions of 20,000 - 1 million: 10%; Jurisdictions of more than 1 million: 15%

Eligibility: Fire departments, Nonaffiliated EMS organizations, state fire training academies

AFG Program goal is to provide funding for critically needed resources that equip and train emergency personnel to recognized standards, enhance operational efficiencies, foster interoperability, and support community resilience. Application types are operations and safety, vehicle acquisition/replacement, regional operations and safety and vehicle acquisition/replacement, nonaffiliated EMS organizations and SFTAs.


California Department of Parks and Recreation: Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF)

Deadline: June 1, 2023

Amount: Up to $6 million

Match: Yes - 50%

Eligibility: Cities, counties, tribal governments, JPAs, park districts, special districts with authority to acquire, operate and maintain public park and recreation areas

CDE California Community Schools Partnership Program - Implementation Grant

The CCSPP Implementation Grants are for new community schools, or for the expansion or continuation of existing community schools. The grant awards are up to $500,000 annually. There are multiple rounds for Implementation Grants.

Funds will position school districts to make upgrades that will lower facilities’ energy costs and foster healthier learning environments for students.

After-School Education and Safety

Deadline: 2/10/23

The After School Education and Safety (ASES) Program is the result of the 2002 voter-approved initiative, Proposition 49. These programs are created through partnerships between schools and local community resources to provide literacy, academic enrichment and safe, constructive alternatives for students in kindergarten through ninth grade. Funding is designed to: (1) maintain existing before and after school program funding; and (2) provide eligibility to all elementary and middle schools that submit quality applications throughout California. The application is for new grantees as well as existing grant recipients who wish to increase funding.

2023-24 School Breakfast Program (SBP) and Summer Meal Programs (SMP) Grants

Deadline: March 1, 2023

Funding is for nonrecurring expenses incurred in initiating or expanding a: (1) School Breakfast Program, serving students in kindergarten through grade twelve or (2) Summer Meal Program, serving children and youth eighteen years of age and under during school breaks. School districts, direct-funded charter schools, and county offices of education may apply for grants; however, only one type of grant may be awarded per school site. Private schools, residential childcare institutions, and juvenile detention centers are not eligible.

BAQQMD's Charge Up! Grant

Deadline: March 3, 2023

The Charge! Program provides grant funding to offset a portion of the cost to purchase and install new publicly accessible (multi-family housing located projects are not subject to public accessibility requirements) chargers for light-duty electric vehicles, or EVs, along transportation corridors, at multi-family housing facilities, destinations, transit parking locations, and workplaces across the Bay Area.
