Cleveland Guardians

The Cleveland Guardians are making waves in the 2024 MLB season, boasting an impressive 45-26 record and holding the top spot in the AL Central. As one of the youngest teams in Major League Baseball, they have exceeded expectations with a strong start. After losing three games in a row, the Guardians won their last game yesterday against the Mariners.

Cleveland Monsters

The Cleveland Monsters concluded their season with an impressive 40-24 record, clinching the top spot in the North Division. Their journey extended deep into the playoffs, reaching the conference finals where they faced a tough Hershey team in a thrilling seven-game series. Despite a hard-fought effort, the Monsters fell short in the decisive game.

Cleveland Browns

Looking ahead to the 2024 season, the Browns are gearing up for action starting with their first preseason game against the Green Bay Packers on August 10th. The team also extended the contracts of head coach Kevin Stefanski and general manager Andrew Berry in June. The Browns are also anticipating the return of star running back Nick Chubb early in the regular season following a significant knee injury.

Here are some Gardening tips for the summer:

Water Early or Late: Water your garden early in the morning or late in the evening to minimize evaporation and ensure plants absorb more moisture

Use Mulch: Apply mulch around your plants to retain moisture, reduce soil temperature, and suppress weeds.

Deadhead Flowers: Remove spent blooms from flowers to encourage new growth and extend blooming periods.

Choose Heat-Tolerant Plants: Select plants that thrive in heat and full sun, such as tomatoes, peppers, and sunflowers

Mow High: Set your mower blades higher to allow grass to grow taller, providing shade to the soil and reducing water evaporation.

Stay Organized: Keep a gardening journal to track planting dates, weather conditions, and the performance of different plants.

Enjoy the Process: Gardening is not just about results but also about enjoying the time spent outdoors and the process of nurturing plants.

Here are some DIY project ideas for the summer:

Tin Can Lanterns:

  • Materials: Empty tin cans, hammer, nail, tea lights or small candles, wire (optional for hanging).
  • Instructions: Clean the cans and use a hammer and nail to punch decorative holes into the sides. Place a tea light or small candle inside. For hanging lanterns, attach wire handles.

Photo Wall Display:

  • Materials: Printed photos, string or twine, clothespins, nails or hooks.
  • Instructions: Attach string or twine to the wall using nails or hooks. Use clothespins to hang photos along the string for a personal and decorative touch.

Pallet Coffee Table:

  • Materials: Wooden pallets, sandpaper, wood stain or paint, caster wheels, screws.
  • Instructions: Sand and stain or paint the pallets. Stack and secure them with screws, then attach caster wheels for mobility.

Here are a few cleaning suggestions for the summer season:

Declutter: Summer is a great time to declutter. Donate or dispose of items you no longer need.

Clean Air Conditioners: Ensure your AC units are clean and functioning efficiently. Replace filters if needed.

Dust and Vacuum: Dust all surfaces, including shelves, picture frames, and electronics. Vacuum carpets and rugs thoroughly.

Wash Windows: Clean windows inside and out using a mixture of water and vinegar or a commercial glass cleaner.

Deep Clean Appliances: Clean the oven, microwave, refrigerator, and dishwasher. Don’t forget to defrost the freezer.

Microfiber Cloths: Use microfiber cloths for dusting and cleaning as they are effective and reusable.

Top to Bottom: Clean from the top of a room (ceiling, shelves) to the bottom (floors) to avoid re-dusting surfaces.

Stay Hydrated: Cleaning can be physically demanding, especially in the summer heat, so drink plenty of water.
