As the spring blossoms begin to bloom, we're excited to invite you to the unveiling of our preliminary Parks Master Plan at the upcoming Earth Day Festival on April 20th. Your presence and feedback on this important milestone will be invaluable as we shape the future of our community spaces. Don't forget to check out our below program guide too, where you'll discover a variety of activities to brighten up your summer days. From fun-filled sports camps guided by our championship high school teams and coaches to summer day camps supervised by some of Ellington's best and brightest, there are offerings for nearly every week of the summer. Your involvement ensures our programs reflect the heart of our community and we can't wait to see you in our parks and on our fields!

Earth Day


Join us for Earth Day on April 20 at the Town Green for the unveiling of our preliminary Parks Master Plans! Everyone will have the opportunity to "vote" for their favorite plan and provide much needed feedback. There will also be music, fun games, free giveaways and much more! Festivities will kick of at 10AM.

Tiny Tot Tennis

Ages 4 & 5

The Philosophy for Tiny Tots is to provide a fun atmosphere for learning tennis fundamentals. Emphasis will be made on hand-eye coordination, body movements, and ball skills.

Pee Wee Tennis

Ages 6 & 7

Peewee Tennis is a soft introduction to tennis. We introduce a variety of activities using scaled-down equipment that are easily handled by children at this age level.

Youth Tennis

Ages 8-13

Build a foundation for athletic development. Focus is on developing the ABCs (agility, balance, and coordination) while forming skills necessary to serve, rally, & score.

USTA JUNIOR TENNIS TEAM

Teams in three age groups (18U, 14U, and 10U) work on development and play and compete against teams from Western Massachusetts and Northern Connecticut in official USTA leagues. Practice/play will begin the week of June 24th and conclude in season ending tournaments around August 10th. Conditions permitting, all teams end their season with a weekend tournament.

Adult Beginner Lessons


The following adult tennis lessons are small group lessons instructed by Rich Willis at the Schwartz Park Tennis Courts. These classes are intended for those past high school age. In the event of inclement weather, a make-up class will be conducted following the regular session.

Cardio Tennis

Program


Join us for a fast-paced fusion of tennis & aerobics called Cardio Tennis. This 1-hour session will keep you moving, get your heart rate up and give you a bit of a tennis workout as well, all to upbeat music. It's fun, it's fast and it's great exercise. This is great for all tennis ability levels.

Adult Tennis Social League


Join us on Thursday nights at 6:30 at the Schwartz Park Tennis Courts for round robin doubles play. We’ll total up games won by the individuals for the night to identify the night’s winner. This will be a “league” for players of all levels. After our Thursday evening matches, we will head out for appetizers and drinks at an additional cost. Thursdays 7:00 pm, $10 on first night to pay for balls for the summer. Starts July 11 and runs through August 27. Email Recreationstaff@ellington-ct.gov to confirm your spot.

Bouncy Bendy Art in Motion


ART-ventures with a totally unique twist! Make masterpieces with real moving parts, create the illusion of movement and discover art that use motion to get amazing results! Camp Runs from 9AM-12PM the week of June 24 at EMS.

Skyhawks takes the energy and excitement of this great team sport and puts it all together into one fun-filled camp. All aspects are taught through drills and exercises that focus on skills. Camps are offered for 9-11 year old's and for Grades 6-9.

Our games and activities are designed to allow campers to explore balance, movement, coordination, and skill development at their own pace. Staff are trained in needs of young athletes. Ages 4-7

Wiffle Ball Camp


Everyone's favorite backyard game! The white plastic ball knuckling through the air. The yellow plastic bat as it makes contact with the ball. Participants will play games, home run derby's, and playoffs! Ages 9-16; July 22-25; 9AM - 11AM; Tedford Park Farm Field

CAS Soccer Camps

CAS Community Camps focus on creating a fun learning environment while fostering a love for the game through skill acquisition, conditioned practices small-sided games. Camps are held from June 17 - June 21 at Robert Tedford Memorial Park.

Little & Summer Knights Camp!


Our Summer Knights and Little Knights camp staff are ready to return for our best summer yet at a brand new location! Camp will be held at Crystal Lake Elementary School and offer a variety of themed weeks complete with entertainers, events and activities! Camp begins June 24 and runs all the way through August 16 (no camp 7/4 & 7/5). Hot lunch is provided every day at no additional cost to every camp participant. This program has grown significantly in popularity and space can no longer be guaranteed. Register today to avoid disappointment!


Price is $215 per week

Adventure Awaits


Our popular travel based day camp is back again exclusively for middle school aged child (entering grades 6-8) for 5 days each week! Middle Schoolers will get to experience the most sought after destinations throughout Southern New England daily. Trips include, Six Flags, Lake Compounce, Sonny's Place and much more! Camp operates on two individual weeks from July 8 - 12 and August 5 - 9 from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM at EMS.


Per week price is $315.
