This Sunday, This Week

8th Sunday after Pentecost When Amos told what he saw when God held up the plumb line of justice next to Israel—that the poor were being trampled—he was a threat to the power of priests and king. John the Baptist also spoke truth to power, and Herod had him beheaded. In Herod's fear that Jesus is John returned from the dead, we may hear hope for the oppressed: that all the prophets killed through the ages are alive in Jesus. We are called to witness to justice in company with them.

VBS Work Nights Calling all volunteers! Please join us on Tuesday nights from 6:30-7:30 p.m. for VBS work nights. We need all the help we can get to transform the church into an outdoor wilderness for our 2018 VBS Rolling River Rampage. Come paint, trace, cut-out and prep decorations for the week full of summer fun.  Contact  Allison Ollanketo  with any questions.

VBS Craft Supplies Thank you to everyone who signed up for bringing craft supplies. If you haven't brought in your items yet, please do so ASAP. We still need toilet paper rolls and paper bags. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions- Karrie Clark, 614-353-6025.

The poster for the Vacation Bible School Snacks is now posted in the Narthex. Please sign up to donate snacks for this year's VBS kids. All snacks are due by July 20. Old Time Gospel Sunday is back! July 29 with one service only, 10:30 a.m. Join us for an outside worship service where we'll be praising the lord, hearing the word, and singing about that old time religion that has something to share with the world to this very day! All are welcome! All are invited! Bring your lawn chair, your tent, your umbrella, and your tappin' toes, 'cause after this worship, you'll know you've been to church! Thank yo to all who responded to the survey. The music has been picked and we look forward to sharing this special time with you as we sing and worship together. Loaves and Fish Ministry The Loaves and Fish Ministry is looking for volunteers to help cook, serve or both! People are encouraged to join a team that only serves two times a year. Give Me That Old Time Religion!

After the Old Time Gospel Service on July 29 at 10:30 a.m. (ONE SERVICE ONLY), we will have our Annual Picnic and Ice Cream Social. Everyone is invited to bring a side dish to share. Hot dogs, buns, condiments, drinks and paper products will be provided. Ice cream of any kind is welcome. There are ice cream makers at the church if you need to borrow one. You may sign up in the Narthex to bring toppings for the ice cream as well as your side dishes for the picnic. We hope to see you at this fun occasion!
