The launch of the campaign at the 9th annual Celebrate John Muir Health! gala marked a pivotal moment, with a fundraising goal of $100 million set to fuel our fight against this relentless disease.

Today, I am thrilled to share with you the incredible news that our collective efforts have not just met but exceeded expectations. Through the generosity and unwavering support of donors like you, we have raised an astounding $110 million, surpassing our initial goal of $100 million. This remarkable achievement is a testament to our shared commitment to making a tangible difference in the lives of those affected by cancer.

As we celebrate this campaign milestone, it's crucial to remember that our work is far from over. The Campaign to Conquer Cancer persists, and we must continue to bolster support for the vital programs and services offered within the walls of the Behring Pavilion, home to the UCSF-John Muir Health Jean and Ken Hofmann Cancer Center. With your continued support, we can empower John Muir Health to push the boundaries of innovation, ensuring that every patient receives the best possible care.

Renal Care at John Muir Health

Dialysis Insourcing

Thanks to generous support from the Maurice Amado Foundation, John Muir Health is now equipped with its own dialysis technology, enhancing program efficiencies and expanding its capacity to serve more patients with renal disease.

John Muir Health has achieved a significant milestone by becoming a recognized Center of Excellence and a regional hub for in-patient dialysis. We are now proud to announce that we are dialyzing more than 650 patients collectively per month, a testament to our commitment to providing top-notch health care services.

Michael Mallari, RN, who leads the Renal Care departments at John Muir Health, says, "We have developed such an outstanding Renal Care program that we now have inquiries from other hospitals to find out what we are doing so well to achieve optimal outcomes."

Having served as a frontline clinician for many years, Mallari attributes much of the noticeable impact in our medical centers and among our Renal Care team to the financial investments provided by the Maurice Amado Foundation. "We knew the insourcing of equipment and the ergonomic, high-tech carts would be a huge benefit in terms of medical care."

A Wish Upon a Star—Come True!

Annual Gala Raises $1.6 Million for Birth Center Transformation

On Saturday, November 4, 2023, John Muir Health Foundation hosted 450 of our closest friends at our annual fundraising event in support of John Muir Health. The event raised $1.6 million to benefit the Birth Center at John Muir Health and is a testament to the community’s commitment to enhancing health care services for growing families.

The 10th annual Celebrate John Muir Health! gala took place in an airplane hangar at the Concord Jet Center, generously provided by Jean and Lisa Hofmann. Upon arrival, guests were transported into the pages of a children’s storybook and guided through the enchanted forest and fairytale castle, where they enjoyed the whimsy of this year’s theme, Wish Upon a Star.

It is evident that the impact of this event extends far beyond the glamour of the evening; our gala symbolizes a shared commitment to building a healthier and more vibrant community, where the arrival of new life is celebrated with first-class health care services and unwavering support from the community.
