February's banner (pictured above) encourages residents to pick up a free emergency preparedness guide at the Municipal Building (see article below) as part of a public safety campaign being led by the Amberley Village Police-Fire Department.
February Public Safety Campaign:
What to Do When Disaster Threatens
| |
|
Amberley Village is focusing efforts in February to prepare residents for potential threats due to natural disasters or other emergency situations. As highlighted on our hillside banner, the Village is making FREE Emergency Preparedness Guides available to residents and neighbors just by stopping in the Village Municipal Building.
The handy guidebook (pictured at left) measures just 6" x 3.75" and easily fits inside an emergency or first aid kit, glovebox or kitchen drawer. The guide includes checklists, planning tools, terms to know, and a phone list page where you can add your personalized contact numbers, such as doctors, dentists and local hospitals.
This tiny guidebook packs a wealth of information into an easily-transportable format, and even includes website addresses for key government agencies that can provide further information and resources to help keep your family thoroughly prepared for any emergency or disaster.
Amberley Village Administration is open 8 - 4 p.m. Monday - Friday, and Amberley Village Dispatch is open 24/7. Stop in at your convenience and pick up one of these FREE handy guides - your family will thank you, and you'll be glad you did!

If you receive an unexpected email from an online service, the Police Department urges you to proceed with caution. For example, if an email states that your account with a specific company has been suspended, ask yourself the following:
• Am I one of this company’s current members?
• Did I make a recent purchase from this company?
When you suspect suspicious activity, open a web browser and visit the website of the company that sent you the email. From there, you can log into your account and verify what, if any, activity has taken place.
Remember to STOP, LOOK and THINK before clicking on any email links.

Community Garden Has A Few Plots Left
Photo Credit: Drone footage taken with Village permission by OKI at Amberley Green
|
Don't Miss Out - They're
Going Fast!
Amberley Village is now accepting applications for the 2023 gardening season! Amberley Green hosts Community Garden plots at Amberley Green for the April - November growing season, complete with deer fencing, access to a garden cart and water, and friendly gardeners to share in the experience...but they're going fast!
| |
|
With only a handful of the 36 plots remaining, you'll want to jump on this rare opportunity, as plots have sold out for the past couple of years. Each 9x15 plot is just $50 for the entire growing season, and includes first right of refusal for the following year. Organic practices are utilized, so no pesticides or other chemicals are permitted. As a hub garden of the Civic Garden Center, monthly demonstrations of garden techniques and cooking ideas for produce are planned.
Interested? Fill out the application form below and email to cwallis@amberleyvillage.org with the subject header "Garden," or simply drop it off at the Administration window in the Municipal Building. Hard copies are also available at the Administration offices.
Applications are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis,
and must include payment to be considered complete.

ODOT Cleanup at
Ronald Reagan Highway Ramps
| |
|
Residents may not be aware, but the Ohio Department of Transportation is responsible for trimming the ramps along Ronald Reagan Highway and Ridge Road. ODOT crews were out in mid-January on both sides of Ronald Reagan trimming brush and mowing.
Amberley Village regularly supplements their work to ensure our entrance and exit ramps look welcoming to residents and guests alike.
Special thanks to ODOT crews for their warm welcome to our photographer! (see gallery link at right)

Acreage Available at Amberley Village North Site
|
Parcels ranging from 2 - 5 acres remain at the North Site for development opportunities in Amberley Village. Signage was recently placed along Ronald Reagan Highway to promote the available space, which will assist in expanding the Village tax base.
If you or someone you know is seeking a prime development opportunity in a centrally-located neighborhood, please contact Rusty Myers (513-252-2158) or Mark Volkman (513-252-2123) at Jones Lang LaSalle for more information.

Amberley Village Thanks Susan Rissover for
18 Years of Service on the Planning Commission
| | |
|
|
Amberley Village resident and realtor Susan Rissover recently completed six consecutive three-year terms on the Amberley Village Planning Commission/Board of Zoning Appeals (PC/BZA), making her the longest-serving member. Mayor Tom Muething thanked Ms. Rissover at its January meeting, adding that the Board would bring in new members while preserving the continuity of experience on the Board. He said emphasis would also be placed on broadening the geographic area of residents serving on the Planning Commission.
"Susan has done an excellent job," said Mayor Muething, adding that he wished to thank her for long and committed years of service. Ms. Rissover's seat will be filled by Nimet Jeruzalmi beginning at the February 6 meeting.

Village Zoning Administrator Wes Brown Retires;
Chris Fritsch Joins Administration
| |
|
Following 26 years of service to the Village, Zoning Administrator Wes Brown has retired. He began his career as a laborer for the Maintenance Department, where he later served as Supervisor prior to joining the Administration as Zoning Administrator.
Wes also served as a firefighter during his tenure with the Village. He recently became a grandfather for the first time, and plans to spend his retirement with his family.
| | |
Chris Fritsch is a familiar face to most of our residents, having served more than 25 years as an Amberley Village Police-Fire Fighter. Chris recently made the transition from Public Safety over to Administration, where he has been training with Wes Brown for the Zoning Administrator position. Chris also serves as Commander of the Hamilton County Police Association Dive Team. Fritsch will serve in multiple capacities until all roles are fully covered.
Planning Ahead for Tax Season
|
Amberley Village Tax Department recently mailed a postcard to all taxpayers in the Village to remind them of required policies and procedures related to income tax. Please note that ALL residents are required to file a return, even if no tax is due or you have no taxable income.

Reporting Service Issues with Rumpke
Reporting issues with Rumpke pickup to the Village Administration can assist in faster resolution and helps us better serve our residents.
|
Amberley Village works closely with Rumpke and our residents to ensure regular, reliable pickup for trash and recycling services. However, there are times when pickup services are missed or homes are unintentionally skipped.
While this is definitely the exception rather than the rule, we have received an increase in reports of missed pickups. This is largely due to workforce challenges that often result in changes to regular route drivers.
If you experience a lapse in service, please contact Carolyn Wallis in the Administration Office at 513-531-8675, or cwallis@amberleyvillage.org. Carolyn tracks service requests and works to assist residents in resolving any issues with Rumpke services, and can often expedite resolution to your issue. While we hope it never happens to you, please take a moment to let us know if your trash or recycling has not been picked up.

Amberley Village Crews are notorious region-wide for their excellence in maintaining our roads during the winter months. But they can't do it without you!
Please help them in their efforts to keep our streets clear of snow by keeping them clear of vehicles and debris, especially during the winter months when conditions can be slick and sometimes treacherous.
The short video below is a great reminder of the importance of all of us working together to keep our streets safe during the winter months!

Chief Wallace Receives
Hamilton County Police Association
Past President's Award
| |
At the Annual Awards Banquet of the Hamilton County Police Association, Chief Wallace was presented with a one-of-a-kind Past President's Award for his fundraising success with the recent Cigars, Bourbon and Badges. The event, which was conceived and executed by Chief Wallace and his team of helpers, raised over $90,000 for H.C.P.A., and brought together scores of supporters in its inaugural year,
The plaque on the award (shown above) reads, "In recognition of your visionary leadership as President of the Hamilton County Police Association." Congratulations, Chief Wallace!
|
the event's success surpassed any previous fundraising event in the history of the Hamilton County Police Association.
According to Chief, the event's success was in large part due to the support of his then newly-hired assistant, Carrie Minton, and the many volunteers who spent countless hours in preparation for the event. "I couldn't have done it without the support of everyone in the Department," he said. "The team environment at Amberley Village is what allows me to be involved in professional organizations and the broader police community."

Amberley Village is committed to keeping lines of communication open and accessible between residents and government officials. In this spirit, Amberley Village has incorporated Village-issued email addresses for Councilmembers into its digital communications protocol.
These measures unify the format, making it easier for residents to send a message when an issue comes to mind. The member's first initial followed by last name (no space) @amberleyvillage.org will get your message on its way to members of the Amberley Village Council.
