March 2018: My YouTube Channel and More Design Troubleshooting Improvements

Hi Everyone!

Did you know I have a YouTube channel with many technical videos you may find useful? To find the channel just search for "Doug Smith ESD" and you should see it. The qualifier ESD narrows the search down from about a million to a few.

Here are a few of the most recent videos:
  • https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HOeVZM56XLk
  • https://youtu.be/10tsPrIQHJU

If you want to see some technical fun on YouTube, look up the phrase "It's Just ESD" from ElectroBoom. Very funny and he has many great videos.

I have finished design and testing on a new instrument for finding circuit design flaws before they become field problems or compliance issues. This represents a substantial improvement to one of my design troubleshooting methods and will be demonstrated at the next class (see below).

In the keeping up with technology, I am now including with each class an Amazon Fire tablet with each registration for the attendees to my seminars to view the notes and keep for themselves afterward. Also, attendees may request a complimentary consulting session on one of the evenings of the class.

also known as "High Frequency Measurements and Noise in Electronic Circuits"
Now includes an Amazon Fire tablet computer with registration!

DATE: April 24-26, 2018, Boulder City, NV

This FUN seminar has hours of demonstrations on live circuits to show you how to find design defects that affect operation in the field as well as EMC and ESD problems. Also covered is how to design circuits and systems to avoid these problems in the first place. Much of the content was developed by myself, is easy to understand, and much faster at problem resolution than conventional engineering approaches. The techniques I teach are very effective at finding hidden design flaws that are not obvious during normal system testing, but can cause field nightmares.

I am changing the format somewhat from a few larger seminars per year to more frequent smaller events limited to six people, to insure the best experience you will ever have at a technical seminar, and at the same price as before including a significant part of your travel expenses.

I will be presenting a significant improvement to one of my troubleshooting techniques at this seminar that lowers the required equipment cost to a tiny fraction of before. Now everyone can afford to do this technique and improve their designs.

Recently added: a test method for the design lab that can predict risk of a product experiencing slow degradation due to low level stresses (such as ESD and EFT, for instance) in the field causing accumulating damage in the system. This new technique will be presented at the seminar and uses the same low cost generator as my troubleshooting technique mentioned above.
