President Delivers Final State of the Union to Congress

On Tuesday, January 12, President Obama gave his final State of the Union address to a joint session of Congress. The speech, which was not as focused on new policy and legislative items as past addresses, helped paint the legacy of the past seven years of Obama's leadership role on rebuilding the nation's economy and status in the world.  The President specifically cited the 900,000 new jobs created by the manufacturing sector over the last six years and discussed "next-generation manufacturing hubs" that were created by the administration to help spur the American manufacturing sector. The President also stressed the urgency to make technology work best for the country, especially when it comes to combating climate change.  The text of the speech can be viewed here
