Happy Thanksgiving

We are thankful for YOU!

Dear Friends of Charting Careers,

As Thanksgiving approaches, we are filled with gratitude for:

  • You and our entire Charting Careers community.
  • Our incredible scholars who make the world a better place and challenge themselves to grow and show care for each other.
  • Our parents/caregivers who work side by side with us and entrust us with their children.
  • Our dedicated volunteers, including board members, mentors, tutors, advisors, and others who share their time and talents.
  • Amazing staff who go above and beyond each day to inspire our young people to discover their power and reach their goals.
  • Our many partners who collaborate, share their resources, and help us grow.

Thank you for all that you do!

With best wishes,

GIVING CHALLENGE

Our final fundraiser of the year began on November 9 and will end on December 21 (the last day of fall!). We are challenging our supporters to raise $6,000 and are excited to share that the first $1,500 will be matched! With your help, we will be able to connect scholars to much-needed mental health tools and services, provide grocery store gift cards to families in crisis, and so much more. PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS

ELEMENTARY PROGRAM

Elementary scholars are with us twice a week from 2:35-6:00pm as part of our Navigating TIDES collaborative after-school program with Annapolis Maritime Museum & Park (AMM). Scholars are making great progress with their literacy skills thanks to 45 minutes of tutoring each day. This month they visited the Busch Library, explored nature with Mr. Marco and Ms. Chelsea at AMM, and have been building their social-emotional skills with Ms. Ashley, our Education Director.

MIDDLE SCHOOL PROGRAM

Middle school scholars also meet with us twice a week at Navigating TIDES. This month they enjoyed a visit to Chesapeake Children's Museum, explored the teen area at the library, and developed personal goals during group mentoring time.

HIGH SCHOOL PROGRAM

Our high school scholars have been meeting once a week during Panther Hour at Annapolis High School with Ms. Ashley (Education Director), Ms. Laticia (Mentor & Volunteer Coordinator), and Ms. Ralinda (Beyond High School Coordinator). Scholars are building relationships with our staff and each other, sharing ideas for programming, and discussing hopes for the future. One of our seniors has been working diligently on college applications with her mentor and our volunteer college advisor and has already been accepted into three colleges!

COLLEGE AND CAREER PROGRAM

Our Beyond High School Coordinator, Ms. Ralinda, continues to connect with our college students and provide support. We are thrilled that two of our college students are planning to help provide college tours for our high schoolers this year!

MARYLAND UNITED 4 YOUTH CONFERENCE

Some of our staff members attended the Maryland United 4 Youth Conference 2022 held at The Crowne Plaza, Annapolis. This conference, presented by MENTOR Maryland/DC, allows for networking opportunities with other youth-focused organizations and helps to create lasting change within communities across Maryland. CONFLICT RESOLUTION TRAINING

Our incredible Community Navigation Specialist Team was able to attend the Anne Arundel Conflict Resolution's excellent, ongoing training. Your support allows us to continue to create these essential partnerships. Thank you for increasing our capacity to support your mission to build peaceful communities!

VOLUNTEER

We are always seeking new volunteers! Not sure where you best fit? Email Laticia Hicks, Mentor & Volunteer Coordinator.
