We'll post updated news at www.runtucson.net, but below is the first draft race report.

As a special thank you for doing the race for reading the race report, way below are $10 off coupon codes for two of our upcoming events...

Thank you: It was great to see so many happy, smiling faces -- thank you all for being part of our awesome running community here in Southern Arizona.

Goodie Pickup: We hope you liked the race shirt and race medals. If you haven't yet picked up your shirt and race medal, come to The Running Shop through the end of September and snag your shirt on a first-come, first-served basis, at 3055 North Campbell during regular business hours. TMC Tucson 10k: Continuing his recent string of top finishes in local races, Jose Delgado took top honors overall in 34:12, which was more than 90 seconds faster than his second place finish last year. Currently training for the Berlin Marathon, 41-year-old Jose runs for the Workout Group and is an assistant coach for local high school cross country team, Salpointe. He is on a tear, having won the TMC Saguaro National Park Labor Day 8-Miler just 6 days ago.

Second place in the men's race went to Tucson's Peter Davidson in an excellent time of 34:30 for the hilly course, while recent Page HS graduate Tanner Dugy snagged third in a strong run of 36:52.

The women's race saw New Mexico State track standout Emily Stutesman take first place in 38:32. Now coaching at Deer Valley HS in the Phoenix area, Emily outran the TMC Saguaro champ Hillary Heskett, who finished in 39:12. Third place female was Emma Turpin in a time of 40:55.

We at Run Tucson are committed to honoring the spirit of racing, and we're grateful to TMC for helping us provide prize money and to The Running Shop for providing close to $1,000 in age-group gift cards.

Virtual Runners

Thanks to the Virtual Runners- at this writing, no one has posted their results. If you want to post virtual results, click here.

Thank you volunteers!

Special thanks to all those who helped produce this event, including . . .

  • We can't thank enough the SAR Board members who spent hours on race morning!
  • Thanks to all the Running Shop volunteers!
  • As always, the Workout Group came out in force -- thanks to the WOG community for pitching in so often and with such passion
  • Also as always, Greg Wenneborg did a great job with all the timing -- special thanks to his son Grant Wenneborg for joining Greg early in the morning and doing so much work to ensure that the timing worked smoothly.
  • John Ward has become our go-to course manager -- we're super happy that he is joining our event day team!
  • Finally, special thanks to Lucas Tyler and the crew at The Running Shop. They do so much for these events, whether hosting packet pickup, providing awards, or hosting post-race pickup, the Running Shop is a big part of everything.

We are so appreciative for a whole host of others who woke up early and made the whole thing happen. Here is a list of all the names on our volunteer roster -- if you see names multiple times it's because they signed up for multiple slots! I'm sure there's more, so I'm sorry to those we missed!

Thank You for Supporting Our Local Beneficiaries

As the second leg of the 2024 Gabe Zimmerman Triple Crown honoring the slain civil servant, Gabe Zimmerman, the event expects to raise over $12,000 for local organizations.

Special thanks to Ross Zimmerman and the Zimmerman family for allowing us to honor Gabe through these events. Supported by funding from Tucson Medical Center, Cox Communications, and participants, the events provide funding for the following organizations:

BEYOND Tucson Foundation: Following the tragic shooting on the morning of January 8, 2011 in Tucson, Arizona at Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords’ “Congress On Your Corner,” the Southern Arizona community spontaneously came together to honor, remember, and show solidarity for those that were killed, injured, or traumatized by the event. Along with its partners, BEYOND provides year-round opportunities for the public to participate in a series of healthy activities and to learn more about the scientific research that shows methods for optimal physical and mental health.

Team Hoyt Arizona: Who's pushing who? You can follow them at Facebook here: https://www.facebook.com/TeamHoytArizona

Step up For Justice: Step Up to Justice is an award winning, full-service, free civil legal center for low-income individuals and families in Pima County, powered by the talents of volunteer attorneys

Children’s Museum, Tucson: Children’s Museum Tucson offers adventure learning, interactive exhibits and daily programming.

Cox Charities is the fundraising and grantmaking arm of Cox Communications raising funds for local charities.

Greater Tucson Leadership is a non-profit, non-partisan leadership organization dedicated to providing leadership education, community development and civic engagement for the overall care of and commitment to our Tucson community.

Southern Arizona Roadrunners is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to promoting health and fitness in Tucson and Southern Arizona through running and walking.
