National Nurses Week

Volunteers in Medicine has been fortunate to have hundreds of volunteer nurses and nursing students walk through the doors and offer their time and expertise. They are kind and compassionate and provide the utmost respect and dignity to all patients. Their service to the underserved populations are commendable and appreciated.

Just another word to describe a person strong enough to tolerate everything and soft enough to understand everyone.

15 Year Anniversary Celebration

You have helped keep our community healthy, well and working for 15 years. All services are FREE at VIM. The Clinic is not federally funded and doesn't charge for services. Operations are only possible through donations, grants and proceeds from special events. Join us in a fun filled evening while supporting a worthy cause.

Volunteers in Medicine is the Nonprofit Champion

A huge heartfelt thank you to the Luzerne Foundation staff and board members for supporting the award to Volunteers in Medicine for the inaugural Nonprofit Champion. It was an amazing evening at the Westmoreland Club on April 13, 2023 to celebrate all of the Community Champions. Volunteers in Medicine was also awarded one of the top prizes of $10,000 to assist with providing free healthcare services to our low income neighbors. VIM is for the community, by the community. We are proud to celebrate 15 years of keeping our community healthy, well and working.

Luzerne County Association of Board of Realtors host Trivia Night

The Luzerne County Association of Realtors chose Volunteers in Medicine as the local nonprofit to receive the proceeds from their Trivia Night at the Broadway Tavern in Mt Top. There were raffles, 50/50 and sponsorships for the event. They presented a check of $2100 to Volunteers in Medicine after the successful event.

The funds will help VIM continue to provide medications, lab work, diagnostic testing, counseling, medical and dental visits at no charge to low income families in our community.

UNICO Provides Donation to VIM

The Wilkes Barre Chapter UNICO held its Brian Piccolo and Italian American scholarship award dinner at the Fox Hill Country Club on Thursday, May 4, 2023.

Congratulations to the Italian American Scholarship recipient Isabella Wilbur of Wyoming Area, and to Brian Piccolo Award winner, Ryan Bonin, also from Wyoming Area. UNICO also provided donations to five local nonprofit organizations.

The mission of UNICO is to contribute to the well-being of our local communities and the nation by making significant contributions to deserving local and national charities. UNICO strives to honor, perpetuate and disseminate the culture and ethnic heritage of our Italian immigrant ancestors by supporting higher education and by educating and informing our members, local communities and our nation.

It was a wonderful evening and the $3,000 donation will assist VIM with providing FREE healthcare to the low income families in Luzerne County.
