Hello Everyone,

Welcome to the first edition of the WCRS Journal, a digital publication providing a refreshed approach to all things safety within terminal operations and stevedoring.

What to expect in this release:
  • Safety information relevant to the industry
  • Thought challenging concepts
  • Shared news and information beneficial to your work site
  • Surveys
  • Feedback from you
The goal of this journal is to challenge idle safety thoughts. Throw your knee-jerk reaction of "that's the way we've always done it" out the window. In editions to come, I will share with you ideas on traditional aspects of safety management as well as emerging concepts.

I welcome and encourage your feedback. If there's a topic you want to explore further, drop me a line at kristina.bowden@westcoastresourceservices.com or, post a comment on my blog at westcoastresourceservices.com. I look forward to hearing from you.

Keep it safe folks,

Risk Reduction - A Refreshed Approach

In June the Annual National Maritime Safety Association Meeting commenced in the beautiful city of Seattle, Washington. Thank you to the Technical Committee for giving me the opportunity to present a few thoughts regarding risk reduction. I've converted the presentation into three videos for viewing. Kick up those safety boots and grab some popcorn, viewing time is 20 minutes for all three videos.

In our current world supported through the use of technology, an opportunity for eLearning is a great solution for busy schedules.  We are conducting a one question survey to find out which topic of eLearning you or your company would use.

Classes are now starting for the Marine Terminal Operations Professional, a professional designation program. This comprehensive training program was developed by the Center for International Trade and Transportation (CITT) at California State University, Long Beach in collaboration with Marine Terminal Operators (MTOs).
