Seize the Moment!

Hello Local 891 Member,

You may receive a letter from the Office of Labor Relations (OLR) asking that you verify your dependents. This is because the city is conducting a random audit of dependent eligibility. Although you may have provided evidence of dependent eligibility in the past, you may be randomly selected to do so again. Please make sure you comply if you are selected.

We recently received a letter from the MLC regarding the Dependent Eligibility Verification Audit (DEVA) being conducted by the OLR. The letter can be found by clicking here; it is also copied below for ease of access. We wanted to make sure you were aware this audit is happening.

Re: NYC Dependent Eligibility Verification Audit (DEVA)

As previously agreed, the Office of Labor Relations will be commencing a Dependent Eligibility Verification Audit (DEVA). The MLC Technical Committee and DEVA Subcommittee have worked with the City to ensure that the audit is conducted in a manner consistent with prior audits, specifically, holding harmless any employee who drops or is found to have an ineligible dependent. The audit will be limited to confirming eligibility for spouses and domestic partners, not dependent children (for whom there is an existing process when they age-out). The audit will randomly select 500 members citywide per quarter (2,000) for the year, who will receive audit letters. Please be advised that OLR intends to send out the first batch of letters this week.
