Honoring a Loved One, Special Person in your Life, or Someone Who’s Made a Lasting Impact.

One of the joys of the  Reimagine Magnolia Village beautification project  is the opportunity to honor a loved one, colleague, or friend who’s made an impact by purchasing a memorial plaque. The memorial plaques are located on benches that provide seating throughout Magnolia Village.

June 18 th  was a special day for the Wells family who celebrated a life well led. Dodie and daughter, Melinda gathered as a memorial plaque was placed on one of the newly refurbished benches located in front of Petit Pierre Bakery. The memorial plaque honors Tom Wells, a loving husband and father who enjoyed this specific area of Magnolia Village. Though Dodie and Melinda no longer live in Magnolia, they saw the memorial plaque as a lasting opportunity to honor Tom, and they know there is always a special bench waiting for their return.

Currently, all of the benches along McGraw from 32nd to 33rd have memorial plaques. However, as the Reimagine Magnolia Village beautification project applies for a city permit and begins implementing Phases II and III, two more blocks will have benches and memorial plaques that can be purchased. These refurbished benches in Phase II and III will be located on McGraw between 33 rd  and 35 th  Avenues.

KC Deterling and friends were able to raise the funds to honor their good friend, Doug Garza with a memorial plaque on the bench right in front of Ace Hardware. Doug was an employee of Ace Hardware for many years and will be remembered by many Magnolia neighbors for his positive and friendly service as well as his amazing artistic skills.

If you are interested in honoring a loved one, purchasing a memorial plaque is a lasting way to help people remember and celebrate a life that made an impact.

Your donation of $1000 for a memorial plaque will generously cover the cost of the plaque itself, engraving, as well as offsets the cost of refurbishing and re-installing the bench. We cordially ask that you keep your memorial verbiage to 80 characters or less.
