Tennis Lessons

Begin February 7

Stay active this winter with tennis lessons instructed by Tennis Anyone! A variety of classes are available with options for the entire family! Classes are held at Las Palomas Tennis Courts on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and at Brush Canyon Tennis Courts on Fridays. Glow In The Dark

Teen Nerf Night

February 10

Battle it out with NERF at our Teen "Glow in the Dark" Nerf Night from 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. Parks and Recreation staff will transform the Thomas Lasorda Jr. Field House Gymnasium (4701 Casa Loma Ave) into a battleground of fun for ages 10-13! Participants must provide their own NERF guns and protective eyewear; darts will be provided by staff. Participants will compete in a variety of games including Capture the Flag, Team Elimination, and Free-for-All. $10 per person, register online using Course #20487.

Family ART Experience

February 18

Family ART Experience is a series of workshops designed for families to engage in art experiences and exploration together. Each month will feature one art form such as acrylic painting, watercolor, ceramics, culinary art, jewelry making, chalk, and much more! Join us for an unforgettable experience of making memories that will last a lifetime at the Yorba Linda Cultural Arts Center. To register, visit YLRecOnline.com and select an available time slot. Wine & Paint Night

February 18

Enjoy a relaxing night out at the Cultural Arts Center for a wine and paint night! Attendees will receive step-by-step instructions on how to create their own masterpieces while enjoying light snacks and drinks. Ticket includes one complimentary glass of wine or beer with additional drinks available for purchase. Guests must be 21 or older; tickets are $50 per person.

Senior Dance (55+)

February 26

Put on your dancing shoes and head down to the Community Center (4501 Casa Loma Ave.) on Sunday, February 26 from 1:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. for a rockin' good time! Couples, singles, and groups are welcome! Dance with friends, and enjoy light refreshments and good company. Tickets are $5 at the door, and no pre-registration is necessary. Doors open at 1:00 p.m. with refreshment service beginning at 1:30 p.m. This is one party you won't want to miss!

Winter Pickleball Meet-Ups

No one to play with? No problem, we've got you covered! Come join us and play one of the hottest sports around! Parks & Recreation staff will be onsite with equipment to help facilitate matches among you and your friends. No pre-registration necessary.

Community Volunteer Program

Join the City of Yorba Linda's Community Volunteer Program! Each month there will be various opportunities for students in grades 9 - 12 to receive volunteer hours, including assisting with special events, youth sports, and senior citizen programs. Since 1999, the City of Yorba Linda has honored exceptional athletic accomplishments by individual athletes or teams in Yorba Linda and outstanding contributions to athletic organizations serving Yorba Linda through its Athletic Achievement Recognition Wall of Fame program.

2023 Senior Wellness Week

March 6 - 10

You are invited to take your health to the "next level" at the 2023 Senior Wellness Week hosted by Yorba Linda Parks and Recreation and UCI Health. This free event is being held at the Yorba Linda Community Center (4501 Casa Loma Avenue) for adults 50+ from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Highlights will include:

 

  • Free t-shirts for the first 100 participants
  • Medical Screenings
  • Informational Seminars
  • Live Demonstrations
  • Medication take-back
  • Raffle Prizes; and
  • Light refreshments and snacks

Teen Job Workshop

March 10

If you are in grades 9-12 and would like to acquire more knowledge about applying for jobs and preparing for your future, this is the workshop for you! Attendees will learn how to create a resume, apply for positions, prepare for an interview, and even participate in mock interviews at this workshop presented by our Recreation staff on Friday, March 10, from 5:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Register online for this free workshop using Course #20488. Military Banner Program

The City of Yorba Linda is currently accepting applications for the 2023-2024 Military Street Banner Program. The program is designed to honor and recognize Yorba Linda Gold Star and active-duty military personnel. Military banners will be displayed from mid-May 2023 through mid-May 2024 on light poles along sections of Yorba Linda Boulevard. The deadline to submit applications is April 1, 2023, and the cost is $100. To complete the application and submit payment, please visit the City website. Spring Swim Lessons

Mark your calendars for resident registration on February 15 for our spring youth swim lessons at Heritage Oak Private School! We have simplified our swim lesson registration to help you enroll your child for the appropriate swim level based on their age. Two sessions will be offered this spring for varying ages and levels:


Session 1:

April 10 - May 3 (Mon & Wed)

April 11 - May 4 (Tues & Thurs)


Session 2:

May 8 - June 5 (Mon & Wed)

May 9 - June 1 (Tues & Thurs)

Adventure Playground Construction Progress

As the final phases of construction continues, the excitement grows to see the completed project. Landscaping will soon be added which will bring life to the site with trees, shrubs, and ground cover. The three-tower playground structure’s various features including a large dry slide, climbing netting, and bridges are being installed.  The re-opening of Adventure Playground is now expected to be in spring of 2023! View the construction video of the progress made to date.

Clean Park Campaign

Residents, join us in keeping Yorba Linda Parks clean, safe, and attractive for all the public to enjoy through our Clean Park Campaign.  Every little bit helps, so please join us in making a difference. By lending a hand and working together we can keep our parks looking their best for generations to enjoy!


How to Participate:


  • Please do not litter. Pick-up after your visit to the park and help pick-up other litter you see during your visit. 


  • Pick-up after your pet. Doggie waste stations and bags are available throughout our parks.


  • Keep your dogs leashed for the safety of your dog, other dogs, and visitors to the park.


  • Report damaged landscaping areas, playground equipment, or broken drinking fountains, sprinklers, or other park and field concerns through MyCivic311.


  • Donate - individuals, organizations, and businesses can donate through the Community Sponsorship Program. Donations can be earmarked for specific projects or larger donations. For more details visit www.yorbalindaca.gov.


  • Volunteer - Non-profit organizations or groups of individuals can volunteer and complete park rehabilitation projects. One of the best ways to volunteer is to participate in Love Yorba Linda.

Veterans Recognition Program

Are you, or a member of your immediate household, a Veteran? Join the City of Yorba Linda and participate in this community program by proudly displaying your veteran flag or banner. The Veteran Recognition Program is designed to honor and recognize Veterans living in Yorba Linda. The Veteran banners are 18" x 48" and are designed to be displayed on residences by affixing the banner to the eaves of the structure, patio cover, or overhang. The flags are 3' x 5' and can be displayed using a traditional flagpole or a house-mounted flagpole. Each flag/banner will state "A Yorba Linda Veteran Lives Here" and will have the logo of the military branch in which the veteran served. Banners are $25, flags are $55. Events at the Virginia De Land Theater

The Virginia De Land Theater is the centerpiece of the Cultural Arts Center and the ideal location for productions and cultural arts events, including plays, recitals, concerts, and other performance art. Named for Yorba Linda Civic Light Opera founder Virginia De Land, the hyperflexible black box space features:



  • Retractable tiered seating for 164, with additional seating risers available to create customized configurations, including theater-in-the-round;
  • State-of-the-art sound and lighting system;
  • Ability to utilize lobby, green room, outdoor paseo, and other auxiliary spaces for performance days; and
  • Central location is adjacent to Yorba Linda Town Center and historic Main Street.

The Parks and Recreation Department is seeking art instructors to provide a variety of specialized visual and performing arts and fitness classes.
