The Gallery at the Yorba Linda Cultural Arts Center is proud to host its first Local Artist Showcase, which will feature over 20 works of art from artists in Yorba Linda and the surrounding areas. The exhibit will run from December 5, 2022, through January 27, 2023, and is accessible to the public during Cultural Arts Center hours. The Yorba Linda Arts Alliance Foundation will host a Holiday Arts and Crafts Fair at Yorba Linda Town Center on Saturday, December 10 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. The event will feature a variety of Arts and Crafts booths and entertainment. Do you need to get your Christmas list to Santa in a hurry? We can help you! The City of Yorba Linda Parks and Recreation Department will be working with Santa Claus this holiday season to deliver all of your holiday wish lists! Grab the paper provided at the mailbox (or use your own) and send Santa your request with a self-address stamped envelope! Letters must be received by December 10 for a timely delivery and response from Santa. Santa Express mailboxes will be at the following locations:

Family ART Experience is a series of workshops designed for families to engage in art experiences and exploration together. Each month will feature one art form such as acrylic painting, watercolor, ceramics, culinary art, jewelry making, chalk, and much more! Put on your dancing shoes and head down to the Community Center (4501 Casa Loma Ave.) from 1:30 - 4:30 p.m. for a rocking good time! Couples, singles, and groups are welcome! Dance with friends, and enjoy light refreshments and good company. Tickets are $5 at the door, no pre-registration necessary. Doors open at 1:00 p.m. and refreshment service begins at 1:30 pm. This is one party you won't want to miss!

The entire family is invited to join the Yorba Linda Public Library and the Parks and Recreation Department for a magical holiday event at the Library and Cultural Arts Center campus on Wednesday, December 21 from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. Enjoy the sparkling lights along the paseo as you decorate cookies, enjoy hot cocoa, make crafts, and immerse yourself in holiday cheer!

Each month there will be various opportunities for students in grades 9 - 12 to receive volunteer hours, including assisting with special events, youth sports, and senior citizen programs. Teens, are you tired of your old, boring, Friday night routine? Well, look no further! Come join our recreation staff at the Thomas Lasorda Jr. Field House (4701 Casa Loma Ave.) and get your game on! Enjoy two hours of fun console gaming on the Nintendo Switch and then participate in some high-action, fast-paced, dodgeball in the gym! Enjoy a relaxing night out at the Cultural Arts Center for a wine and paint night! Attendees will receive step-by-step instructions on how to create their own masterpieces while enjoying light snacks and drinks. Join recreation staff every week for our Mini Sports for Mighty Tykes classes! This newly formatted 8-week program is for children age 3-5 and will have classes in soccer, basketball, and t-ball. Your mighty tyke will learn the basics of these activities while having fun alongside teammates and enthusiastic coaches. Our curriculum is designed to fine-tune motor skills, improve athleticism, and promote sportsmanship and teamwork, all in a fun and energetic environment. Registration fee includes a Mighty Tykes t-shirt.

Construction continues to progress at Adventure Playground with the building of the three-tower playground structure’s various features, including a large dry slide, tower side panels, and climbing netting.  Decorative fencing throughout the site continues to be installed including the main entrance gate. Various pathways throughout the site continue to be formed and prepared for installation of organic lock which will create a natural looking pathway. Unfortunately due to various delays, the re-opening of Adventure Playground is now expected to be in spring of 2023! View the construction video of the progress made to date.

How to Participate:

• Please do not litter. Pick-up after your visit to the park and help pick-up other litter you see during your visit. 

• Pick-up after your pet. Doggie waste stations and bags are available throughout our parks.

• Keep your dogs leashed for the safety of your dog, other dogs, and visitors to the park.

• Report damaged landscaping areas, playground equipment, or broken drinking fountains, sprinklers, or other park and field concerns through MyCivic311.

• Donate - individuals, organizations, and businesses can donate through the Community Sponsorship Program. Donations can be earmarked for specific projects or larger donations. For more details visit www.yorbalindaca.gov.

• Volunteer - Non-profit organizations or groups of individuals can volunteer and complete park rehabilitation projects. One of the best ways to volunteer is to participate in Love Yorba Linda.

Are you, or a member of your immediate household, a Veteran? Join the City of Yorba Linda and participate in this community program by proudly displaying your veteran flag or banner. The Veteran Recognition Program is designed to honor and recognize Veterans living in Yorba Linda. The Veteran banners are 18" x 48" and are designed to be displayed on residences by affixing the banner to the eaves of the structure, patio cover, or overhang. The flags are 3' x 5' and can be displayed using a traditional flagpole or a house-mounted flagpole. Each flag/banner will state "A Yorba Linda Veteran Lives Here" and will have the logo of the military branch in which the veteran served. Banners are $25, flags are $55. The Virginia De Land Theater is the centerpiece of the Cultural Arts Center and the ideal location for productions and cultural arts events, including plays, recitals, concerts, and other performance art. Named for Yorba Linda Civic Light Opera founder Virginia De Land, the hyperflexible black box space features:



• Retractable tiered seating for 164, with additional seating risers available to create customized configurations, including theater-in-the-round;
• State-of-the-art sound and lighting system;
• Ability to utilize lobby, green room, outdoor paseo, and other auxiliary spaces for performance days; and
• Central location is adjacent to Yorba Linda Town Center and historic Main Street.
