Welcome to Lakeville

It was so fun to welcome Tori Appelhof and APH Law, to her Lakeville office last week. Tori is a 20-year resident of Lakeville and her firm is located in Historic Downtown Lakeville. She specializes in family law including dissolutions, custody disputes, property divisions and any other family law problems. Tori did the coolest thing in preparation for her ribbon cutting – she supported several of her fellow women-owned business neighbors in downtown by using them for her décor, business cards, fresh flowers, coffee, and more. APH is such a great addition to our downtown – pop in and say HI to Tori when you are down there!

They are not just for Construction!

New Partnership

This week the Chamber hosted a Lunch + Learn with Lauren Kunkel from Building Talent Foundation (BTF). The purpose of BTF is to address the severe and persistent labor shortage across skilled trades by improving talent supply, training, and retention.

If you are seeking qualified, job-ready workers, BTF has a construction-only platform to connect employers to qualified job candidates, called JobsToBuild. Create your free Employer Profile today and begin being matched with candidates who fit your desired candidate criteria.

New Career Tool

The Graduate Employment Outcomes online tool has been updated to display job and earnings outcomes for the class of 2020-21 from 98 institutions of higher education in Minnesota. Here is an example of what you can find by using the tool:

  • What are the highest and lowest paying fields of study in Minnesota?
  • Are there differences in what students have been able to do with the same degree attained at different schools with comparable characteristics? Users can compare employability, wages and wage growth from two to eight years after graduation.
  • How many graduates at each school found stable, full-time jobs from two to four years after graduation?
  • Are graduates employed in industries related to the fields they trained for? At what wages?
  • Are graduates employed in the same region where they attended school?
  • How many relocated to a different region of the state, and how do wages differ by region?

Information in the tool can help prospective students decide how much they can afford to borrow and how long it might take to pay off their loans.

In addition, the new College Major to Industry of Employment tool has been launched, showing which industries hired graduates from 405 different postsecondary programs of study in Minnesota. Prospective and current students can examine whether the sectors with highest employability match their career goals and earnings expectations.

Both tools help students and their families find the academic program that best matches a student’s career goals, academic strengths and market demand for the skills acquired at school. You can read more HERE.

Visit Lakeville Tourism Tidbit

Visit Lakeville (Jeanne Hutter) accompanied by Holiday Inn & Suites (Jessica Bernard and Mike Gunderson) visited with our legislators Senator Zach Duckworth, Representative Jon Koznick and Representative Jeff Witte during Hospitality Day at the Capitol on March 13. Hospitality Minnesota, a state-wide organization of hospitality businesses, is dedicated to supporting and advocating for our hospitality industry. They provided a morning program at which time shared legislative priorities driven by their members. To learn about issues that matter most to Minnesota’s hospitality operators, click here.
