Message from the Principal
The 2023-24 school year brought challenges and triumphs. We are proud of our school community for working hard together to accomplish their goals! Our students have enjoyed learning more about themselves, their interests, and the world around them through lessons that encourage creativity! Thanks to their hard work in the classroom, we finished our school year with immense pride in who we are and what we do. It has truly been a memorable year and we cannot wait to share everything we have been up to during the last quarter!

Spring at The Foundation Schools
Students and staff were eager for Spring to arrive so that we could enjoy outdoor activities. To welcome the season, we decorated the hallways with pictures of Spring plants so we felt like we were walking through a garden of blooming flowers! We also enjoyed several outdoor activities including our Easter egg hunt where students hunted for colored eggs and the elusive “Golden Egg” with a special prize inside. At the end of the year, students engaged in competitive sports and fun games like flag football, water balloons, jump rope, and tug of war during their field day!

An extraordinary event took place on April 8, 2024 that left our students in awe - a solar eclipse! The moon aligned perfectly between the Earth and the sun, casting a shadow upon our planet. Students and staff wore their solar glasses and headed outside to witness this historic event. Since the next total solar eclipse that can be seen from the United States will not occur until 2044, we savored the memorable experience by viewing it together.
Our planet is an amazing place, but it needs our help to thrive! That is why each year we celebrate Earth Day to learn about ways we can protect our planet and raise awareness of the effects of climate change, pollution, and deforestation. Our middle school students celebrated Earth Day by planting seeds, which they will take care of until they are fully grown. This is a great way for our students to practice responsibility while learning new hobbies that are eco-friendly.

Goodbye Kindergarten, Hello 1st Grade
|
This year, we celebrated the promotion of our three kindergarten students. They wore their shades, danced, and smiled their way into 1st grade during their end-of-the-year celebration where families and staff cheered them on. Just like their class project where they watched caterpillars transform into butterflies, this group of three transformed into well-prepared students who are ready to tackle the challenges of the grade ahead of them! As a group, they were colorful and unique, just like the butterflies they released on their last day of school!
8th Grade Promotion Celebration
Another milestone for the books! This June, we held an emotional ceremony for our 8th graders moving on to high school. Tears flowed as staff, students, and families expressed joy and pride in this accomplishment that represents their perseverance and tenacity. We are so proud of our students and look forward to watching them grow as high school students!

Hello, all Foundation families and supporters! We’re excited to share our fourth-quarter activities in our summer newsletter. This quarter focused on celebrating students’ accomplishments in academics, behavior, and social-emotional development. Our team is very proud of our students, including our graduating Class of 2024 who worked hard all year to reach this important milestone. We hope that you enjoy reading about our field trips, graduation, and staff activities!
Ending the school year on a fun note, students had a blast playing arcade games and go-kart racing as a Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS) field trip! Students also took a trip to Watkins Park for an unforgettable Field Day, playing flag football, tennis, basketball, and kickball. Thank you to our staff for grilling delicious food for everyone to enjoy! PBIS trips focus on providing new and rewarding experiences for students who have shown consistent positive behavior throughout the year.

Congratulations Class of 2024!
On June 14, The Foundation Schools honored our 10 high school graduates! During the heartfelt graduation ceremony, students and staff shared school memories, expressed appreciation to their loved ones, and encouraged their peers to continue reaching for their goals. One student shared their gratitude to our program saying, “Thank you for being there for me and understanding what I needed. You showed me that hard times never last and anything is possible if I put my mind to it.”

We’d like to shout out our staff for winning The Foundation Schools' #SelfieCareChallenge this year! The #SelfieCareChallenge began during the 2023-2024 school year to encourage staff to practice healthy habits both in and outside of school, spread staff appreciation, and reduce burnout. Each of our schools implemented activities that promoted health and wellness, and submitted photos with descriptions of those activities. The school with the most #SelfieCareChallenge submissions wins a celebratory banner, plaque, and resources for more health and wellness activities next school year.
Staff submitted many unique activities throughout the year, however, our high school program took the win with 59 activities, including weekly yoga, a self-defense demonstration, healthy food bars during lunch, and a water intake challenge. Work-life balance is essential for school staff, and we were elated to see our staff fully participate and develop stronger relationships during this competition.
