As the year end quickly approaches, The Community Foundation offers you the tools needed to help achieve your charitable giving goals. Please make sure any 2018 contributions are postmarked on or before December 31. Please also allow additional time for gifts of stock or complex assets. Last minute gifts can be made at www.cfdrr.org!
A very popular giving vehicle is the designated "legacy" fund.
You can easily create a fund to continue to support your favorite charitable organizations after your lifetime (religious organizations, fire departments, food banks, etc.) Donors are allowed three years to endow a fund at the $10,000 minimum level. Scholarship funds can be endowed with a $25,000 minimum.
Another easy choice is our donor-advised fund.
When you establish a donor-advised fund, you qualify for immediate tax deductions and can recommend annual grants in future years. *Does not qualify for IRA transfer gifts
Don't forget that an IRA rollover gift is a smart way to support The Community Foundation.
Donors age 70 1/2 can avoid taxes on transfers up to $100,000 from an IRA directly to us. You can easily satisfy your required minimum distribution for the year, reduce your taxable income and make a gift not subject to the 50% deduction limits on charitable gifts.
