A Message from the Principal

Welcome to March Yasuhara Families,

Wow, it's hard to believe we're quickly approaching the mid-point of our third quarter. February sure flew by! We had so much fun! Our ASB ran a fantastic spirit week, we had a MLK assembly, and enjoyed our February fling. Our non-tardy party was fantastic, and over 200 of our students qualified to participate. Way to get to class on time, Phoenix!

March has a lot to offer as well:

Wrestling and 8th grade basketball continues this month with matches and game times available on our website. We're so proud of the hard work and dedication of our athletes!

Our Band, Strings, and Choir concert is scheduled for March 6th at 7:00 pm. We're so excited to see our students perform!

We look forward to seeing you all. It's going to be a great March!

Sincerely,

Stephanie Lundberg

Clay Artwork

In art class, students spent the entire month of January building with clay. They created mini decorative sculptures, coasters, small cups, and something functional. For their functional project, they chose to make jewelry boxes with lids, serving trays, snack bowls, mugs, paint palettes, soap dishes, and other useful things. We celebrated the end of the first semester with a snack potluck where they used their creations.

Spanish Class Fun

Our Spanish classes have worked so hard this year, but have also found time to celebrate. At the end of the year in December, we made piñatas. Students broke them and received many treats.

In January and February, students started the year with a lot of new language and they are truly rising up to the challenge of a High School language course. ¡Qué chévere! Our Phoenix Spanish students are "magníficos"!

Boxfit Classes

Hillyard Hammer's Boxfit is hosting classes for local students. For 4 days, the gym will be open for Yasuhara students to come in and participate in a boxing style workout. Students will learn basic punches and defensive techniques as well as conditioning. This is provided at no cost with a valid Yasuhara student ID.

No sparring unless you are currently registered with USA Boxing and you can present your passbook on arrival. A parent must sign a release form and bring it when you arrive to class.

Lost & Found Cell Phones

The main office has several mobile phones in the lost and found. If your student has lost their phone this school year, please ask them to check the office to see if anyone has turned it in.

Mid-Year Reminder

Please take a moment to evaluate your student's school supplies. Many students are low on pencils, pens, and lined paper--supplies they need to be successful at Yasuhara. Now is a great time to replenish these critical items.
