A Message from the Principal

Dear Yasuhara Families,

Welcome to February! January was a great month at Yasuhara Middle School. Our students learned so many new things! Our 7th grade basketball teams consistently demonstrate hard work, and have earned a couple of wins. Our 8th graders are leading by example, and we're excited to see everything they accomplish this year.

D&D club's second round starts mid-month, so if you're interested, pick up a form in the office. Additional clubs to look for include Chess Club and Diversity Club, both beginning in February. If your child is interested in joining a club, permission slips are available in the main office.

Safety is our top priority at Yasuhara. One of the ways we keep your child safe is by keeping a single secure point of entry with supervision present at our student entrance. Please help us by dropping off your child at the student entrance off Marietta. This also helps keep traffic patterns moving off of Perry. Thank you for your help with this process! It's going to be a great month at Yasuhara!

Sincerely,

Stephanie Lundberg

See Something, Say Something

Our Campus Safety Specialist, Mrs. Haws, has created a “See Something, Say Something” campaign for Yasuhara. Students can scan the QR code and share information about any concerns such as, bullying, vaping or fighting, anonymously. We want all students to feel and be safe here at Yasuhara Middle School.

Barkley's Bites

Miller's Chicken &

Spaghetti Recipe

Ingredients:

1 large chicken

1 large yellow onion, quartered and peeled apart

1 bunch of celery cut into 3"-4" long pieces

3-4 bay leaves

1 tsp pepper

1 box spaghetti noodles (14-16 oz size)

2 cans cream of mushroom soup

16 oz block of sharp cheddar cheese (or grated)

Instructions:

  1. Boil whole chicken in large stock pot with onion, celery, bay leaves, and pepper until meat pulls away from leg bone (about 1 hour). Remove chicken and set aside to cool for deboning. Strain chicken stock to remove onion, celery, etc and return strained chicken stock to stock pot.
  2. Return chicken stock to a boil and add spaghetti. Cook as directed on package.
  3. While spaghetti is cooking, debone chicken, dice meat, grate cheese, and open soup cans.
  4. When spaghetti is cooked, strain noodles but keep remaining stock for later use.
  5. Add grated cheese and cream of mushroom soup into hot noodles. Add small amounts of hot stock to help melt cheese (usually 1/2 to 1 cup total). Keep mixing until all the cheese clumps have melted.
  6. Add deboned diced chicken meat and mix into spaghetti mixture. Add small amounts of stock if mixture is sticky or pasty.
  7. Mixture will thicken as it cools and/or after refrigerated.
