According to the Glaucoma Research Foundation, more than 3 million people in the United States have glaucoma. The National Eye Institute projects this number will reach 4.2 million by 2030, a 58 percent increase.
Here are some ways to spread awareness:
Talk to friends and family about glaucoma. If you have glaucoma, don’t keep it a secret. Let your family members know.
Get involved in your community through fundraisers, online information sessions or group discussions, etc.
The holiday season can be filled with family and friends, especially those you have not seen for a long time. It's often the time when serious conversations happen, as well. The Conversation Project is a great resource to utilize if you plan to discuss a loved one's care wishes going forward.
