Friday, July 26: Basic Fly Fishing
Meet at the Visitor Center 10:00 a.m.
Learn how to fly fish and how it’s different from other styles like bait
fishing, trolling and spinning. This program will start at the Visitor Center
but will move to the nearby Rainbow Valley Fishing Club.
Friday, July 26: Forest Bathing Walk
Meet at Visitor Center patio 9:30 a.m. -12:30 p.m.
Unwind & Immerse in nature's joy & wonder through the wellness
practice of Forest Bathing/”shinrin yoku”. Join Nature Therapy Guide Jane
for this mindful 1 mile wander to quiet the mind & awaken the senses,
closing with forest tea. Bring water, small backpack & rain gear.
Recommended ages 12 and up.
Friday, July 26: Knots and Lashings
Meet at Camper Services 2:00 p.m.
Want to learn another good survival skill? Knot tying is important when
building outdoor shelters, fishing, and rescuing yourself or others. Learn
how to tie two commonly used knots. Everyone will create a project to
take home. Best for ages 6+.
Friday, July 26: Star Party
Meet at Visitor Center Parking Lot 9:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m.
The Colorado Springs Astronomical Society will have several telescopes
set up outside of the Visitor Center for everyone to view the stars and
planets of the night sky.
Saturday, July 27: Fly Fishing Basics Plus
Meet at the Visitor Center 9:00 a.m.
Enhance your fly fishing knowledge in this fly fishing plus class which will
include a three hour classroom portion. Here, you will learn about
entomology and fly choice. Then end with an hour or more time on the
water. Participation in a Mueller fly fishing basics program or personal
experience fly fishing is required. It is suggested that you bring your own
pole to continue to hone your skills on the equipment you will use
outside of the class. You must pre register for this class by calling the
Visitor Center at 719-687-2366. 15 spots available.
Saturday, July 27: Folk Music in Colorado
Meet at Camper Services 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Listen to the sounds of folk music on the banjo while Naturalist Allison
talks about the history of the genre.
Monday, July 29 Junior Rangers at the Pond
Meet at Peak View Trailhead 1:00 p.m.
Ever wanted to learn more about the forest, pond and various critters at
Mueller State Park? Mueller has lots of wildlife and wildlands to see. We
will learn about the basics of Mueller State Park's wilderness and wildlife
and explore the pond life that Mueller sustains. Children will complete
the requirements to become a Junior Ranger. Children and their grown
ups should attend together. There is limited parking at Peak View
trailhead. Elk Meadow trailhead is close by and has lots of parking.
Monday, July 29: Hike to Osborn Cabin
Black Bear Trailhead 9:30 a.m. -11:00 a.m.
Come along to visit one of Mueller's historic buildings where we will learn
about who has lived on the land we know as a state park. This is a
moderate 2 mile hike.

Meet at Camper Services 7:00 p.m. -8:00p.m.
Ever wonder what it’d feel like to pet the wild life. This is your chance to
do it in a way that is safe for you and the wild life. Explore a variety of fur
and skulls of Colorado's native animals.
Tuesday, July 30: Nature Journaling for Families
Meet at Outlook ridge trailhead 1:00 p.m.
Learn about a creative approach to nature journaling. Discover what you
can uncover when slowing down to observe nature. Please come with
your own journal/notebook and writing utensil.
Tuesday, July 30: Tracks Craft
Meet at the Visitor Center 2:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Come check out what the tracks you may see in the park look like. Then
you can make your own track guide.
Wednesday, July, 31: Rock Art Table
Visitor Center 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Are you looking for a new way to create art? Come learn about historic
rock art in Colorado. There will be supplies to create your very own
designs.
Thursday, August 1: Hiking Challenge #8
Meet at the Visitor Center parking lot 8:15 a.m.
Join volunteer naturalists Carrie and Eileen while we hike trails #5, #44,
#24 and #15 through Rock Canyon. Estimated 6.6 miles. Dress in layers
and bring water. Don’t want to do the whole challenge? That’s okay, join
us anytime.
