LEDs Magazine (owned by PennWell Corporation, part of the PennWell LED & Lighting Network and my collaborators as an advisory board member for Lightspace.California this past year) announced last month the launch of the Lighting for Health and Wellbeing Conference to be held at the Newport Beach Marriott and Spa on July 27, 2017 in Newport Beach, California. This inaugural conference will focus on the latest research and technology in the field of human-centric lighting design. The Lighting for Health & Wellbeing Conference will provide you with opportunities to learn more about:
  • The latest science on how light influences the body
  • How to apply this knowledge in practice
  • How light is being used to improve outcomes in nursing homes, schools and places of work
  • The latest products that harness the non-visual effects of light

About Therese Lahaie & Apparatus Design

Therese Lahaie is a lightologist. As an artist, Therese uses light and technology to reveal the nature of various media and for expressing solace. As a practitioner of light, Therese provides education, knowledge and training for architects, engineers and lighting designers.

Therese has presented her AIA-CES and IDCEC approved "Innovators in LED Lighting" luncheon seminar to more than 2500 design professionals who appreciate her knowledge and insight about LED lighting. Her dynamic approach to presenting content and inclusion of experts that 'know their stuff' make her presentation one of the most popular ever offered. And of course it doesn't hurt that participants can earn AIA CEU's in sustainable design by attending.

Therese, who previously worked at companies like Translite Sonoma, Phillips Lightolier and Morrison Lighting, recognized how much new information architects, engineers and designers would need to appropriately evaluate, specify and select new products as LED technology improved and evolved. She knew first-hand as an artist using light of many of the challenges and issues with the new technology. Rather than wait for others to figure it all out, Therese's passion for light led her to form Apparatus Design.

Today, Therese is an independent consultant who supports lighting designers and manufacturers in the transition to LED lighting solutions. In addition to her Lunch and Learn trainings, Therese does market research and connects LED lighting manufacturers, lighting designers, and architects in conversation and in practice.

To relax, Therese swims competitively and continues to develop her art; she has sculptural work in the permanent collections of the Crocker Art Museum, Corning Museum of Glass Contemporary Collection, the DiRosa Collection and the Glassmuseet Ebeltoft.

Cheers,

Therese Lahaie
