June’s Member of the Month:

Mary Henning

Mary has been nominated for June Member of the Month by an anonymous member. “When I joined the YMCA, I first walked into a swimming class, not knowing anyone. The first person that spoke to me was Mary. She welcomed me into the group with open arms. She comes to the Y for exercise and for the friendships she has made. Over the last 2 years, I have watched her welcome everyone that joins our group. She sings the praises of what the Y has done for her. If not for her, I would have never had the courage to keep coming back.” - Anonymous

Mary’s Y Story #yilovemyy

“I love the Y for the friendliness from the minute I walk into the lobby. Everyone always seems to be in a good mood. Going to the Y for all the different classes offered is great. I guess one of my favorite places is walking in the lazy river. Relaxing and good exercise. There is a program for everybody. If you are thinking of joining the Y, I would have to say, do it. My kids and grandkids all belong, so we can spend time together in the water. There is a scholarship program available if cost is an issue. Everyone is welcome at the Y.” - Mary Henning

Congratulations Mary! We wanted to recognize you for always welcoming new members of the Y. Your personality and inclusiveness is admired by many.

A perk of being member of the month is that they get to have the front row parking spot. You can nominate someone today for Member of the Month by emailing welcomecenter@theydc.org.

Welcome to the "Fascia Decompression" Block Therapy Class! Fascia is a connective tissue that surrounds and supports the body's organs, muscles, bones, blood vessels, nerves, and joints. In this 75-minute session, we will explore the principles of Block Therapy, focusing on techniques for decompressing the fascia to enhance mobility, release tension, and promote overall well-being. Through gentle movements, breathwork, and sustained pressure, participants will embark on a journey of fascial release, experiencing the profound effects of unlocking adhesions within their bodies. We will be using a rolled-up bath towel and using our breath as our guide to decompress our fascia.
