Worship this Sunday

Join us for worship this Sunday, June 23rd as pastor Matthew is on vacation and we will welcome Commission Lay Pastor Greg Bennett to the pulpit. Join us for summer worship!

For the summer, we will have a one-page bulletin in worship for the summer season. We will take out a few pieces that you would normally see in the bulletin, namely the words of the scripture passage and a weekly schedule. We will print copies of the email bulletin that will have the wording for the scripture passage for those who would like to read along. Copies of those will be available alongside the bulletin on Sunday.

Watch the service live on our Facebook page at 10:30 am.

Free Little Neighborhood Item of the Week

Our Free Little Neighborhood Item of the week is dry snacks and goods.  Help us keep our boxed filled with dry goods such as peanut butter crackers, chips, individual snack bags, macaroni and cheese and more.

Pastor Matthew Vacation

Pastor Matthew will be on vacation from Monday, June 17-Sunday, June 30. Our summer intern, Erica, will also not be around for the next two Sundays and will return in July to finish her internship. Our guest preachers will both be Commission Lay Pastors through our Presbytery’s CLP program and Greg Bennett will preach on June 23 and Mary Boyd will preach on June 30.

Recognition of Pride Month

Last summer Highland became a More Light Congregation. This is a recognition within our denomination that we will, ‘work(s) for the full participation of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) people in the life, ministry and witness of the Presbyterian Church (USA) and in society.”

This is a journey and will provide opportunities for education and growth and we recognize that not everyone is on the same part of this journey. You might have a lot of questions. Here are a few helpful links to help you understand the More Light organization.

Prayers, Concerns and Joys

Please pray for our members, families, and friends.

We lift-up prayers for those among our community who are shut in. Be with them as they are separated in body from their loved ones.

War Zones - Prayers were lifted up for all those who live in war zones all around the world and that leaders might step up to resolve the many issues leading to our current wars.

Schenk’s Friend - Rich and Carole Schenk lift up prayers for their friend Christina whose special needs daughter, Rachel, has been moved to hospice. Prayers for them during this time.

Diane Hick’s Brother - Diane’s brother, Bill, was recently diagnosed with leukemia and is receiving treatment. Prayers for his treatment and all who care for him.

Homeless - Let us pray for those who do not have a safe space to stay on any given night. As warm weather approaches, let us pray for those who are forced by life’s circumstances to sleep outside or wherever they can find.

Ukraine - Let us continue to keep the people of Ukraine in our prayers as the war there continues on well past two years.

Palestine and Israel - Prayers for peace and reconciliation as the war between Palestine and Israel continues.
