Dear Avon Lake UCC Friends,
What does that word, “friend,” mean to you? Do you consider yourself “friends” with a very small number of people whom you deeply trust? Or are you a person with a large group of social friends?
The Bible describes God using many different images; one of them is of God as friend. Tomorrow I’m preaching on John 15:9-17 in which Jesus says to his disciples and followers, “I call you friends.”
I’ll be exploring the meaning of friendship and its connection with our spiritual lives in my sermon.
Our music is always wonderful; tomorrow it will be extraordinary! 9 AM worshipers: I encourage you to come into the sanctuary or tune in early. Scott Ewing (piano) and Lauren Boudon (cello) will be playing four duets as the prelude music, and our choir will be singing later in the service. At 11 AM, music will be led by David Doyle, Scott Ewing, Scott Purks and Kurt Striffler.
During the announcements at the end of each service, Kim Rose will share some information about the Legacy Gala.
Memorabilia from the first 128 years of the church is still being displayed - look for it in the hallway near the chapel and in the chapel.
With gratitude for our life together -
Kelly
